Navy Pre-Flight School during the past week gave Christmas parties for elementary school children of the Chapel Hill community. Pictures in the top row were taken at the party for white children held in Navy Hall on Monday—on the right they are shown receiving gifts, and on the left they are gathered around the Christmas tree singing carols. In the bottom photo are shown happy youngsters gathered around Santa at the party held for colored children at the Navy Band quarters on Tuesday. There were ice cream, cookies, tangerines, nuts and gifts for all at both of the parties. Ex-Prisoner of War Relates Experiences Tq Pre-Flight Cadets First Lieutenant Horace Aus tin of the Army Air Forces who recently returned to the United States after escaping from a Ger man prison camp, spoke before the Regiment of Cadets in Memorial Hall on Thursday morning. Holder of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart, Lieutenant Austin came to Chapel Hill to visit his younger brother, AvCad Robert M. Austin, a member of the newly arrived 42nd Battalion. “I was flying a B-24 or Libera tor when I was shot down and cap tured by the Italians,” the young Lieutenant, who is only 22, told the cadets. “We were on what we call a regular milk run.
