Cloudbusters Play Naval Academy Today at Annapolis Riding the crest of a 10-game winning streak the U. S. Navy Pre-Flight Cloudbusters left yes terday for Annapolis, Md., where this afternoon at 1430 they tackle the strong Naval Academy quintet. A total of 17 playei’s, along with Lieut. R. A. Rae'se, USNR, head coach, and other Navy personnel, niade the trip. The team, on the whole, is in excellent shape. “The thing that worries me,” said Coach Raese, “is that we’ve had no tough competition in the past two weeks. The boys have ttot been pressed to win.” The Naval Academy five, con sidered one of the finest quintets in the east, is expected to give the Pre-Flighters their toughest con test since the Norfolk Naval Air Station team came to Chapel Hill in December. Manpower Survey Group Inspects Naval Dispensary Captain W. A. Angwin, (MC) USN (Ret.), Senior Member of the Manpower Survey Group No. 9, inspected the Dispensary of the U. S. Navy Pre-Flight School, Chapel Hill on January 11th and 12th. Members of the group ac companying Captain Angwin were Commander James Humbert, (MC) USN (Ret.), and Mr. Her man Weinstein, representative of the Civil Service Commission. Dr. Floyd W. McRae of Atlanta, the fourth member of the group, was unable to be present due to weather and traffic conditions. A Manpower Survey Board was recently established by Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox to sur vey the manpower situation of all Naval Establishments and ascer tain whether or not the various Naval Activities are over manned or undermanned and are utilizing their Naval and Civil Service man power to the fullest advantage. Vice Admiral Adolphus Andrews, USN, is President of the Man power Survey Board in Washing ton and Captain Paul Cassard, USN, heads the Manpower Sur vey Committee for the Sixth Naval District and maintains his head quarters in Charleston, South Carolina. Glee Club Dance Tonight A dinner dance for all members of the Cadet Glee Club and their dates will be held in the Pine Room of Lenoir Dining Hall tonight starting at 2000. Chicken is on the menu and music will be furnished by the swing section of the Pre- Flight Band. Dance Scheduled For January 29 In Woollen Gym The U. S. Navy Pre-Flight School will sponsor the local 1944 President's Birthday Ball to be held in Woollen gymnasium on Jan. 29 to raise funds for the in fantile paralysis campaign, Comdr. John P. Graff, USN (Ret.), Commanding Officer, an nounced last week. Officers, cadets, crew, and civi lian employees of the Pre-Flight School, along with university fac ulty, students and townspeople, are expected to make the dance an outstanding success in raising funds for the perpetual fight against infantile paralysis. Music for the occasion will be provided by the Pre-Flight dance band, and there will be added en tertainment by the Cadet Glee Club. Starting time for the dance will be 2100. Tickets are priced at $1.00 per person, tax included.
