Palmer has registered 166 points in 11 games, while Myers has 154 in 10. For the Naval Academy, Bob Howe, Mack McKay, Captain Ken Longnecker, Agre Back and Litty will form the starting combina tion. This team led the way last Saturday when the Annapolis crew defeated a hitherto unde feated Catholic University outfit, 59 to 41. The contest will provide the Cloudbusters with a “comeback” opportunity for the 31 to 0 licking suffered at the hands of the Naval Academy football team in the fall. Three contests are on next week’s schedule, two of them here. Tuesday at 1930 the 517th Para- Troops from Camp Mackall fur nish the opposition, and Friday at the same time Virginia Tech will play here. Until You Drop Bombs— Buy Bonds Varsity Mittmen Boxers Open Season Against Virginia Next Saturday Another varsity sport will get its first taste of outside competi tion for the 1944 season when the boxers journey to Charlottesville, Virginia next Saturday to engage the University of Virginia. Some 20 boxers have been work ing out for the past 10 days under the direction of Lieut. Alfred Wolff, USNR, head boxing coach. Just who will fight in what weights is still indefinite, but Coach Wolff has named a tenta tive starting lineup. Cadets James Carroll, 41-1-3, and Curtis Simpson, 38-C-2, both look good in the 130-pound divi sion, and just who will get the nod remains to be seen. Simpson has more experience having partici pated at his home town high school in Ridgewood, N. J., and also at the Citadel where he was 135- pound company boxing champ. Carroll, on the other hand, has picked up most of his boxing ex perience here. From Arlington, Va. comes Cadet James Peete, 89-E-l. He looks best in the 135-pound divi sion at this writing. Like Carroll, he has had little previous experi ence. Perhaps the best looking fighter in the group at present is Cadet Edward Scott, 41-J-2. Hailing from Memphis, Tenn., he fights at 145. Cadets Warren Michael, 40-H-3, and Don McCusken, 40-H-2, are 155 pound standouts. Michael, a Charlottesville, Va. lad, will act as captain of the Cloudbusters, and he is expected to fight in that weight. He won two lettei's in boxing in high school. McCusken hails from South Portland, Maine. Cadet Fred Hier, 40-H-2, hails from Pleasantville, N. Y. where he won four letters in high school in boxing. A 165 pounder, he at tended Dartmouth College from 1940 to 1943. Cadets Richard Fuchs, Martin Kunberger, and Marvin Fullmer all look good at 175. None partici pated in boxing in high school. In the heavyweight class Cadets Charles Sawyer and George Cur rie, both 195-pounders, stand out. Sawyer attended Princeton Uni versity, winning letters in foot ball, crew, and hockey. Currie hails from Philadelphia, Pa.
