(jg) Leonard Eiserer, USNR Associate Editor: Orville Campbell, Y2g By George J. Grewenow Chaplain Corps, USNR So much of life we take for granted—a new day, our work, the ability and health to per form it, rest at night, relief from anxiety and worry, the fact that we can and are able to take our place with others in the performance of duty in critical times such as these—all this we take for granted. Those of us who enjoy good health and soundness of body usually acept it as a mat ter of fact. We take pride in matching our physical stamina and prowess with others. We revel in keen competition. We take the time to keep physically fit. And we simply take for granted our feeling of well-being. It is not so with others—especially those who are so seriously incapacitated by the re sults of the dreaded infantile paralysis. We are perhaps reminded of our good health only when we see one of these victims or when we are reminded of them by the current appeal for funds with which to fight this disease. We dare never become so smug in our own good health as to forget others, lest we become undeserving of it ourselves. Not out of sentiment, nor out of partisan loyalty, but rather as one among many ways of expressing our gratitude, may our contri butions be made.
