Independence Day War Bond
Drive To Be Held Here July 1-8
Geared for a record-breaking response from Naval Personnel—
iiniformed and civilian alike—Navy’s Independence Day cash War
Bond campaign will swing into action at this station on July 1 and
Will end in a smashing wind-up on July 8.
With its goal at least one extra War Bond per person, the Navy con
fidently anticipates that July 4th results will far surpass those of last
i‘earl Harbor Day, when the total^
of $23,079,770 was rung up by the
Navy, Marine Corps and Coast
Guard personnel, thereby outdis
tancing the $15,000,000 goal set
before the opening gun of that
Campaign.

48th Battalion,
Officers Invited
To Dance Tonight
Cadets of the senior 48th Bat
talion and all officers of the Pre-
Flight School are invited to attend
the alumni reception and dance
given by the University of North
Carolina in Woollen gymnasium
this evening from 2100 to 2400.
Uniform for the 48th will be
khaki with khaki blouse. Liberty
for the cadets has been extended
to 0030 with taps coming at 0045.
18 Months and $31,500
It takes an average of 18 months
and $31,500 to turn out one Navy
aviator, according to an estimate
given out in Washington recently
by Lt. Comdr. F. V. Lawrence to

Will Move to Glenview
Headquarters of the Naval Air
Primary Training Command, of
which this Pre-Flight School is a
unit, will be moved from Fairfax
Airport, Kansas City, Kan., to the
Naval Air Station, Glenview, 111.,
on or about July 1.
The change is being made be
cause at present no naval air pri
mary training is underway at
Kansas City, and it is desired to
base the headquarters at a station
within the command.
The NAPTC, comprising 130
units located throughout the coun
try, is under the command of Rear
Admiral 0. B. Hardison, USN.
Headquarters have been located at
Kansas City since Oct. 1, 1942.
