Cloudbusters
Win One, Lose
Two, Tie One
One win, two losses and a tie,
comprise the record of the Cloud
buster baseball team over the past
week.
The victory was over Maxton
Air Base, 9 to 2, and the losses
were to Morris Field, Charlotte,
8 to 7, and Fort Bragg, 18 to 8. A
game with Camp Butner on Wed
nesday afternoon was called at the
end of the 11th with the score tied
at seven all.
A complete reversal of early
season play has been responsible
for the recent Cloudbuster slump.
In the Ration League race, the
Pre-Flighters collected base hits
few and far between. But, in
Cadets Farley, Somerville and
O’Neill, the team had excellent
pitching, and the fielding was sec
ond to none in the league.
Now the Cloudbuster pitching is
on the downgrade, and a total of
24 errors have been recorded in
the last four contests. The game
with Camp Butner, for example,
saw the Pre-Flighters make nine
miscues.
Against the Maxton Air Base
the Navy fliers scored single runs
in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth,
four in the lucky seventh and
another single run in the eighth.
Somerville handled the pitching
duties until the eighth when
Greenberg took over.
