On the left Ted Scruggs, Georgia end, had only Otto Graham between him and the goal line, but the Cloudbuster back made the tackle to save the day. The play was good for 25 yards. In the center photo Bob Hamilton, No. 77, returns a punt midway the second period. Wilson and Anderson made the tackle after Hamilton picked up 15 yards. Albert Bassey, Cloudbuster substitute quarterback, was stopped by Bob Burkett, Georgia center, after picking up four yards. Officer Dance Tonigrht The first officers' dance of the fall season will be held in the Pine Room of Lenoir Hall this evening from 2100 to 0030. Music will be furnished by the Pre-Flight swing orchestra. Uniform for the dance will be optional. Crew Dance on Nov. 4 A dance for enlisted personnel, including WAVES, is scheduled for the Chapel Hill Country Club I'-ext Saturday. Details will be an nounced early next week. Buell St. Johns’ Field Goal Gives Cloudbusters, 3-0, Win The score was tied, it was fourth down on the two yard line, and only eight seconds of play left in the game. Then Buell St. John dropped 10 yards back of the line of scrimmage and coolly booted the pigskin over the cross-bar for three points and a Cloudbuster victory. And—^probably the cool est guy in the stadium was Buell St. John—and why not? He’s been on the spot in more important sit uations as a member of Carlson’s Raiders in the Pacific. There you have the scoring in one of the best football games played in Kenan Stadium all year. An estimated crowd of 10,000 per sons witnessed the ball game which saw both teams fail to take advantage of several golden scor ing opportunities. The Cloudbusters took the open ing kickoff and started out like a house afire by marching from their See FOOTBALL, page U Cloudbuster “B” Team Meets Bogue Field Here Today While the varsity football team tangles with the Jacksonville Naval Air Station there the Cloud buster “B” squad will meet Bogue Field, a Marine Air Base located in North Carolina, here this after noon at 1545 on Fetzer Field. Coaches of the “B” squad are Lieut. William Porterfield and Lieut. Otha Tiner. One game has been played previously with the Marine Air Base at Kinston. The Pre-Flighters lost, 7 to 0. This will be the only game played in this section this week end. The University of North Carolina has no game scheduled, Duke plays Army in New York, and Wake Forest played Miami University there last night. Varsity Basketball Practice Starts Monday in Tin Can “Varsity basketball practice will get underway Monday afternoon at 1600 on the varsity court in Woollen Gymnasium,” Lieut Dyke Raese, head mentor, announced this week. All cadets in the 57th or later battalions, with previous basket ball experience, are invited to par ticipate in early drills. Already the season schedule is taking shape, and present plans call for the first game to be played the 2nd of December. Last season the Cloudbusters won 17 of 20 games to rank with the best service teams of the na tion. Among those teams defeat ed were the Naval Air Station from Norfolk, Duke twice and the U. S.
