i4l Saturday, November 4, 1944 CLOUDBUSTEU Page Three AROUND THE STATION One of the visitors to Cloudbuster foot ball drills this week was Dr. Frank P. Gra ham who is pictured above with another famous Graham—Otto of the Pre-Flight football team. Dr. Graham, who is Presi dent of the Greater University of North Carolina, took time out to autograph Otto’s helmet for good luck this Sunday against Bainbridge when the photographer snapped the picture above. % * It’s almost a month off, but if you make plans now you’ll be ready to purchase that $100.00 bond when the Pearl Harbor Day War Bond Drive comes up in December. In the past this station has made an outstanding ’’ecord, but it is hoped that the drive coming up will surpass anything to date.' Besides getting a return on your invest ment, you’re investing your money in victory when you purchase War Bonds. And that same money will come in mighty handy 10 years from now when you plan to build a home, take a trip, or buy a million and one things that will be placed on the market after victory. Ht * * * ^ Notes on the Jacksonville trip: Jitterbug Kellogg’s superb performance at the Cloud- huster quarterback position made him one of the outstanding backs on the field. Watch him go tomorrow afternoon against Bain- ^idge. His number is 40, his home is in Wynne, Ark., and his football reputation was ^ade at Tulane University. He weighs but ^^5, stands 5 ft. 8 in., and can run, pass or punt depending on the need. With him in the loudbuster backfield the team as a whole niuch stronger, has more scoring power. * * ♦ ♦ ♦ yith a percentage of 86.13%, the 60th Bat alien led the way in Academics for the two period just completed. The 59th was ^^ond with 85.30%, the 61st had 83.76%, the 72.56%, and the 63rd 61.15%. news from here, there, and everywhere Effective November 1 several changes in postal rates and fees were made, according to an announcement from the post office in Navy Hall. Changes pertain to money orders and fees for insured mail. Money orders up to .50 will cost six cents instead of ten; $2.51 to $5, eight cents; $5,01 to $10, eleven cents; $10.01 to $20, thirteen cents, with the cost ris ing in proportion to the amount for those of large denominations. Insurance fees have been cut drastically, with the first charge of three cents covering values up to $5. Five to $25, will cost ten cents; $25.01 to $50, fifteen cents and $50.01 to $200.00, twenty-five cents. ^ ^ ^ Cadet Alfred Anthony Umhoefer, 58-H-l, has made one of the highest, if not the highest, overall marks ever recorded in aca demics at this station. Only 18 years old, he scored 3.85 for the courses taken here. Cadet Umhoefer hails from Wausau, Wisconsin and was graduated from high school there in 1943. His hobby is pho tography, ***** Other than the aforementioned Cadet Um hoefer, eleven cadets were named outstanding academically for the 58th Battalion. Cadet W. E. Concerning Justice, Bainbridge Coach Joe Maniaci recently remarked that he was the greatest natural football player he’d seen. Three enlisted men received promotions during the past week. Robert Dewar was pro moted from SK2c to SKlc, and Roy Kendall moved up to SK2c from SK3c.
