In the backfield: Andy Uram (32), Johnny Kordich (22), Bob Morrow (68), and Joe Bukant (42). . <S>- Camp Peary Eleven Favored Over Cloudbusters Here This Afternoon The Camp Peary Pirates, beaten only once on a 7-to-O decision to Bainbridge Navy, will reign favorites to defeat the Cloudbusters to day but, win, lose or draw, it will be a highly successful Pre-Flight football season that will close in Kenan Stadium. The kick-off is scheduled for 1430, following the parade of the Regiment. Coached by Lieut, Comdr, Norman P. Strader, who in pre-war days Was noted for his grid teams af^ St. Mary’s College in California, the visitors from Williamsburg, Va., are loaded with former All- Americans who also starred in professional football. Coach Glenn Killinger of the Cloudbusters considers Camp Peary on a plane with Bainbridge, which also was the only eleven to defeat Carolina Pre-Flight this year. Against the Cloudbusters the Bainbridge juggernaut won, 49-20, but Camp Peary held the galaxy of Maryland backs to less than 30 yards on the ground. “Camp Peary’s starting line is better than that of Bainbridge,” the Pre-Flight coach stated, “but the backs are not as good.'' Indi cations are that the Cloudbusters will rely strongly on their passing attack. At the ends for Camp Peary will be Ralph Schilling, an All- Oklahoma ace, and John Rokiskey, former All-American from Du- quesne. The tackle spots are han dled regularly by Lou DeFilippo of Fordham and the New York Giants, and by Bob Bjorklund, co captain of Minnesota’s 1940 myth ical national champions. At guard are Don Creese of the University of Colorado and Russ Letlow, an All-American from San Francisco U. and an all-National League choice while with the Green Bay Packers. The center is A1 Ma tuza, a standout on Georgetown’s See CAMP PEARY, page 4 Whitlock, Graham Named Top Cadets Two new cadets have been add ed to the Commanding Officers’ Trophy in Navy Hall. For the 57th Battalion Cadet Eldred “Lon nie” Whitlock, a veteran of the Gilbert-Marshall Raids, Wake, Guam, the Coral Sea, and the Battle of Midway, has been select ed as the outstanding cadet, while Otto Graham, the All-American football player from Northwest ern, has been named for the 58th. Both Whitlock and Graham served as regimental commanders of their respective battalions. Comdr. William Clark, War Bond officer, stated this week as plans were completed for the Pearl Harbor Day drive scheduled at this station from December 1st to 5th. The quota for this Pre-Flight School is at least one $100 Bond for every officer, cadet, enlisted personnel, and civil service em ployee. As in the Independence Day drive. Series E, F, and G Bonds are eligible. Bonds will be purchased by ca dets in Navy Hall. Civil Service employees, enlisted personnel, and officers will purchase bonds in Alexander Hall at the Chaplain’s Office. The times for bond pur chases by battalions, and for of ficers, enlisted personnel, and Civil Service employees will be announced.
