B. Hardison, USN, Chief of Naval Air Pri mary Training, came aboard last Monday with members of his staff to inspect this unit of his command. The Admiral toured the station accompanied by Lt. Comdr. James P. Raugh, USNR, Com manding Officer, while members of his staff inspected the various departments of this activity. The inspection party departed from Chapel Hill by plane Tuesday morning. Admiral Hardison, who was the heroic Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier, USS En terprise, during the battle of the Santa Cruz Islands in October, 1942, is a native of North Caro lina and attended the University here at Chapel Hill before en tering the Naval Academy in 1912. He was Commanding Officer of the Enterprise from October 1942, to April 7, 1943. He served aboard the USS Texas in the first World War, became a Naval Aviator in 1923, and served aboard the USS Lexington, USS Saratoga, USS Langley, and USS Ranger before becoming Skipper of the Enterprise.
