A. C. Bauer compiled 199 V2 points to edge out the 69th by just seven and a half points in the regimental competition ending last week. The runner-up 69th took first place in Academics, while the 70th won honors in the Sports Program. Three records fell by the way side in the Sports Program finals. Vernon McCloskey, of the 69th, broke a record of three years’ standing when he ran the 440 in :53.6. The old mark of :53.9 had been placed in the books by a member of the 1st Battalion three years ago. The medley relay team of the 69th, composed of Tom Codding- ton, Mark Burnham, Clarence Mabry, and McCloskey lowered the previous record of 3:51.5, set by the 51st, to 3:49.2. The victory on Sunday was the fourth of the year over Butner, giving the ’Busters a clean sweep of the season’s series. Ken Olson pitched all the way for Pre- Flight and aided his own cause with a double and triple. On Wednesday the ’Busters narrowly averted their first shut out of the year, when successive singles by Hughes, Olson, and Gregg, followed by a fly by Chancellor, gave them their lone tally in last half of the ninth. Lefty Cole held the locals in check with just two safeties in the first seven innings, then yielded five in the last two frames. Flick and Hughes hurled for the losers, giving up 10 hits. Three games are on the slate or the coming week, all at home. Kinney’s Athletic Club furnishes the opposition tomorrow, and Er win Auditorium on Sunday. The curtain comes down on the sea son Wednesday, in a tilt with Maxton Air Base. -Buy More War Bonds-
