The residence of James P. Hamx)- ton, ten miles below Jonesville, w'as burned to the ground last Friday morning about seven o’clock. Two beds, four or five chairs and a bu_- reau was all tiiat Vi.as saved from the building. All the wearing ap parel was consumed. Mr. Hamp ton and his wife was away from home and no one was about the premises l;ut the childreu. The fire originated from a defective chim ney. Tlie house has reeeutly beeji remodeled; in fact was not quite fin ished. Tliere was no insurance. The loss is quite heavy on Mr. Hampton, but he has sympathizing friends and neighbors who will help him rebuild. He is a master mas on and that body will assist him no doubt.
