FIRESTONE’S ENTRY in Little League Basketball form a

most of this league’s games. Starting with boy on the left of the

are: Kenny Bolick, Steve Smith, Randolph Scott, Steve Buchanan,
Donald Honeycutt, Robert Murray, Jackie York, Curtis Williams, and

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS Director T. B. Ipock, Jr., is shown
above right, standing beside Dr. Paul H. Good, manager of the
department of education for the United States Chamber of Com
merce. Dr. Good addressed a recent joint meeting of the Gaston
Personnel Association and the Gastonia Chamber of Commerce on
the subject, “Know Your Business”. Mr. Ipock is President of the
Personnel Association. Others in the picture 'are, left to right, B. T.
Dickson, Executive Secretary of the local Chamber of Commerce,
and Staley Funderburk, chairman of the Industrial Affairs Com
mittee of the Gastonia Chamber of Commerce.
How To Apply For A Firestone Scholarship
Each candidate for a Firestone Scholarship may obtain proper
application forms from the Personnel or Industrial Relations De
partment of all Firestone factories and offices.
Scholarship application forms also may be obtained by address
ing a written request to the Firestone Scholarship Committee, The
Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, 1200 Firestone Parkway, Akron
17, Ohio.
Application forms must be filled in with the following informa
tion by the applicant, the applicant’s high school principal, and
friends:
1. Complete scholastic record and brief personal history)
2. Results of Scholastic Aptitude Test as given under the di
rection of College Entrance Examination Board.
3. High school certification form.
4. Confidential rating questionnaire.
5. Three character recommendation certificates filled in by
adult friends other than teachers and relatives.
Completed application forms and information must be in the
hands of the Firestone Scholarship Committee, The Firestone Tire
& Rubber Company, Akron 17, Ohio, by April 1, 1953.
When all papers of an applicant are received by the Scholarship
Committee in Akron, the applicant will receive a notice that all
proper forms have been received and are under consideration.
The Firestone Scholarship Committee will notify all applicants
early in June of the names of the 15 winners of the 1953 Firestone
Scholarships.
WILLIAM D, SEVILLA, a tex
tile engineer trainee since January,
1951, was transferred February 1st
to Akron, Ohio. There he will un
dertake new duties in thfe Textile
Division under W. A. Karl, Presi
dent of Firestone Textiles.
Mr. Sevilla, a 1950 graduate of
the New Bedford Textile Institute
in New Bedford, Mass., joined
Firestone in 1951 while residing in
Los Angeles, Calif. During World
War II he served in the United
States Navy, entering the textile
school as a GI student upon his
release from the Navy, His native
state is New York. He will be join
ed by his wife, Edna, and their two
small children as soon as living
quarters are secured in Akron.
