QMSA Jack Lovingood, former yarn trucker of the Twisting De partment, is now serving in the Pacific Fleet aboard the Destroyer Tender, U. S. S. Prairie. Jacks says, he really enjoyed working in the Twisting Department trucking yarn, and working with such good people. After his navy life is over he wants to come back to work in the Twisting Department. Waldrep, Carding Depart ment, and his wife attended the funeral of the former’s uncle, George Wheeler in Clarkville, Ga., on Thursday, February 5. George Robinson, oiler, and his family had their belated Christmas in January when Max W. Robinson, their son, arrived home. Lenull Keenesas was also guest for the occasion. Mrs. Helen McCarter, inspector, attended the funeral of her grand mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Leona Withers, who died on January 29. The burial was held in Lincolnton, N. C. WAREHOUSE Fred Morrow, Warehouse over seer, has been out sick with flu, but has returned to work now. Albert Meeks, laborer, wishes to thank all of the Warehouse em ployees for their fine contribution and cooperation with him as com mitteeman during the recent Com munity Fund Drive. Sympathy is extended to the family of Mason Rainey, fork truck driver, in the recent death of Mrs. Rainey’s brother, James Mobley, an employee of Firestone. These employees, recently ill, have returned to work: James An derson, Lorenzo Friday, Henry Gordon, Jasper McCollum, Will Starnes, and Luther Thompson. The employees of the Warehouse welcome three new employees, James McCoy, James Bratton, and Floyd Lewis. Aleas Gwinn, daughter of Lon nie Gwinn, Warehouse, has re turned to school after an extended illness. SHOP Will Panther, carpenter, who has been out sick for quite a few months, underwent an operation re cently at the Gaston Memorial Hos pital. Painter Jimmie Jacobs and Mrs. Jacobs were honored with a house warming shower given by Miss Ann McCarver at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jacobs on February 5. Approximately 52 guests were present for the party and Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs received some wonder ful gifts. Eddie Carson, grandson of IMant Guard Ralph Carson, is showing much improvement after being run over by a car on January 28. Radio Ham Carroll Webb of the Shop asks that any one having a message they would like to send to a boy in the service, to get in contact with him. Frank Brown, laborer, was on vacation the week of February 7. Billy Sparrow, son of Yard Man Frank Sparrow, was home recently for the week end from State Col lege, Raleigh. Bill is a sophomore at State and he, also, holds the rank of Master Sergeant in the R.O.T.C. Junior Elders, son of Bryant Elders, welder, has gone into the Ai-my. Doc Hallman, bench man, attend ed the stock car races in Daytona Beach, Fla. recently. Paul Walker, Supervisor of the Roller Shop, recently was hospital ized for surgery.
