Aldridge spent the week end of July 4 at his farm in Johnsonville, S. C. M. L., Jr., and Ricky Fogle of Washington, D. C., are visiting their grandmother, Mrs. Marie Fogle, respooler, at her home on Union Road. Mrs. Annie Mae Whitfield, win der tender, has entered the Gaston Memorial Hospital for treatment. Miss Nadine Peck, winder tender, spent the July 4th holidays at Myrtle Beach and White Lake. WAREHOUSE Mrs. Maggie Hickman, mother of Manuel Hickman, Warehouse, entertained the members of the Firestone Garden Club recently on the lawn of her home at 810 South Dalton Street. An annual Flower Show and picnic were enjoyed by the members of the club and their friends. Jack Wellman, Shipping Depart ment, was a candidate for the Commissioners Office in Bessemer City recently. Perfect Record MISS LIBBY HOUSER, 15, recently completed nine years of perfect attendance at Aber- nethy and Wray Junior High Schools. That period covers her entire school career. She is the daughter of Loom Fixer and Mrs. Clarence Houser. She lives with her parents at 906 Brunnett Street. SHOP Second Hand W. B. Ward and Mrs. Ward received word recently that their son, Robert Ward, F. N. of the Sub. Group II, U.S.S. Blue Ridge, broke his leg in an accident. Robert was a former employee of the Shop before entering the ser vice. He expects to be home on a furlough soon. Painter Ernest Givens spent a week at Fruitland recently as counselor for a group of Juniors from the Loray Baptist Church. Ruby Givens, daughter of Mr. Givens, was a member of that group. The Juniors won in the Memory Work Contest. Anna Sue Smith, daughter of Watchman Dave Smith, won second place in the Young People’s speaking tournament. Hetcher and his wife visited Myitle Beach. Miss Phoebe Pear son, Office, spent a week at Day tona Beach, Fla. Sanitary Foreman Alvin Dill and Mrs. Dill also spent a week at Daytona Beach, P’'la. Ruth Ann, Sara Jane and Mary Joe McCarter, daughters of Motor Oiler Scott McCarter and Mrs. Mc- Caiter, spent two weeks recently with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hastings in Quincy, 111. Millwright Fred Rockett who has been a patient at the Gaston Memorial Hospital, has returned to his home and is able to be out. Billy Howie spent his vacation at Carolina Beach. Benchnian John Mercer and hit' father. General Manager Harold Mercer, visited State College in Raleigh recently. John plans to enter State College this fall.
