Doffer Odell Thomas and Mrs. Thomas had as week-end guests recently, the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hunter of Macon, Ga. Tape Man Giles Gainey and his wife, Ellen, reclaimer, were very happy two weeks ago when the latter’s brother, H. F. Davis of Nashville, Tenn., visited them at their home for the first time in 22 years. They also visited A. B. Davis, father of Mrs. Gainey and Mr. Davis in Hartsville, S. C. Mrs. Pearl Aldridge, inspector, entered Gaston Memorial Hospital Monday, July 27 for an operation. Overseer H. T. Aldridge, his wife. Pearl, inspector, their daugh ter, Louise, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaylor, their children, Morris Gamble, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee Aldridge and family spent the week end of July 18 at Bridge water fishing and swimming. They report a wonderful time. Overhauler B. C. Bryant, his wife, their daughter, Mrs. Nell Dean Haunn, tie-in-hand, Twister Tender Horace Haunn and children enjoyed a birthday dinner in Salis bury, Sunday, July 26. It was the birthday of Alford Bryant, son of B. C., and two of their grand children. The employees of the Twisting Department welcome Mrs. Leola Chambers, respooler, to the Second Floor Twisting. Mrs. Annie Cosey, reclaimer, Mrs. Aleen Whitesides, respooler, and Mrs. Lorain Aldridge gave a bridal shower Friday, July 24, at the Firestone Girls Club, honoring Miss Louise Aldridge, daughter of Overseer H. T. Aldridge and Mrs. Pearl Aldridge, inspector. Miss Aldridge is to be marired in Sep tember to Mr. Morris Gamble. The tables were decorated in white and green using white flowers with green fern and white candles. Re freshments were served to 32 guests. Miss Aldridge received many nice gifts. SALES YARN TWISTING Mrs. Bonnie Dockery, reclaimer, Walter Dockery, and their daugh ter spent their vacation visiting relatives in Rosville, Ga. Twister Tender Hoyt Hardy spent his vacation visiting in Athens, Ga. He also spent a few days on a fishing trip to Savanah. He reports the fishing very good. Overhauler Albert W. Laughlin and Mrs. Laughlin had as guest recently, Jerry Laughlin of At lanta, Ga. Twister Tender Glenn McMillon attended the motorcycle races at Weaversville, N. C. Section Man W. H. Hughes and Mrs. Hughes have as guest at their home in Love Heights, Mrs. Mary Hughes of Copperhill, Tenn. Mrs. Betty Thomas, inspector, had as guests recently, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris and children of Raleigh. Also Mrs, Lillie Row land accompanied them. Tate, Sr., mother of Wilbert Tate, is a patient at the Garrison General Hospital. Mrs. Lucille Davis, change hand, is a patient at Charlotte Memorial Hospital where she has had a major operation. Mrs. Alene Nelson and her daughter spent the week end re cently at Myrtle Beach. Miss Nina Milton, smash hand, spent the week of July 4, visiting her brother, C. P. Milton in Thomaston, Ga. She also visited in Warm Springs, Ga. Don Kelley, weaver, spent the week of July 4th in Tila. Mrs. Edna Ledford, battery hand, has returned to work after two weeks of illness. Elsie Nash, battery hand, enter tained at a birthday party in honor of her daughter, Cynthia, on her sixth birthday, July 10. Twenty- two guests were present and she received many nice gifts. Betty Cloninger, battery hand, entertained her son, Gene, at a birthday party Sunday, July 12, on his sixth birthday. Ice cream and cake were served to seventeen guests. Mrs. Risbeth Webb was on vaca tion the week of July 6. Mrs. Nettie Reeves, weaver, was on her vacation the week of July 6 in Danville, Va. She reported a wonderful trip. Second Hand Floyd Kelly and Fixer Robert Nash were recently on a fishing trip. The employees of the Weaving Department welcome Mrs. Charles Dodgen to their department as a battery hand. QUALITY CONTROL Second Hand Carl Guffey and family visited Bridgewater on va cation. They did some fishing while there. William Floyd Hogan, Carrie Mae Hogan, inspector, and family spent the day at Mt. Mitchell re cently. They had a family reunion there. Mr. Hogan saw an uncle he had not seen for 25 years, Rice Hogan of Texas. Hogan and Mrs. Hogan, inspector, had as guests recently, Mr. and Mrs. Arval Ho gan of Charlotte. They brought with tnem a 80 pound fish which they caught in Florida. SHOP Paint Foreman Homer Harmon and family spent their vacation at Cherry Grove Beach. Alberta Fraiser, sister-in-law of Mrs. Har mon, accompanied them. Furman Pearson and family va cationed at Myrtle Beach. Bill Passmore, young son of Fireman Robert Passmore, won a bicycle light in the bombing con test held recently at the local air port. Miss Phoebe Pearson, Shop Of fice, and cousin, Mrs. Glenn Pear son, spent the week end of July 25 in Boone, N. C.. going up especial ly to see the drama, “The Horn In The West”. Miss Louise Sparrow, daughter of Yardman Frank Sparrow, has entered Warren-Wilson College. Mrs. L. Dale Little and daughter, Margaret, of Miami, Fla., are visiting with Humidifier Man Bill Little, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Little. Mrs. H. A. Stokes, Mr. and Mrs. Atwood Stokes, and Mrs. Lola Wil son of Jacksonville, Fla., visited with Assistant Plant Engineer H. A. Cauthen and Mrs. Cauthen re cently. Mrs. H. A. Stokes is a sister of Mrs. Cauthen. The party went from here to Washington, D. C., before returning to Jack sonville. George C. Taylor and family of Ocean Side, Long Island, N. Y.. and T. K. Taylor and family of Raleigh, N. C., recently visited Lathe Operator Cramer Little and Mrs. Little. George and T. K. Tay lor are brothers of Mrs. Little. WATERMELON FEAST—Community kids wasted little time getting to the heart of things during the rccent “watermelon slicing” in the playground. Among the adults present were Assistant Recrea tion Director June Badger and Willis Neely, recreation director for Gastonia. WAREHOUSE Cotton Classer Frank W. Davis is on a ten day trip through Texas Valley accompanied by W. A. Karl, President of Firestone Textiles. Messrs. Davis and Karl are on their annual cotton buying trip. Warehouse Overseer Fred Mor row was on his vacation recently and enjoyed a little fishing. Harold N. Robinson, warehouse shipping clerk, and Mrs. Robin son have returned fi'om Florida where they spent their vacation sight-seeing. Mason Rainey, fork truck driver spent his vacation in New York City visiting relatives. CLOTH ROOM Six new employees have been assigned to the Cloth Room. They are Bill Reynolds, Alvin Ledford, Buddy Green, Eugene Patterson, Dottie Walker, and Eulalia Brock. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sessoms of Manly, N. C., visited with the lat ter’s sister, Mrs. Tommy Barton, who is an inspector in the Cloth Room. Bobby Barton, son of Mrs. Tommy Barton, inspector, spent the week end on a camping trip in the mountains with the Little League Baseball Team of the Optimist Club.
