Weaver Bert Buchanan and his wife, Mrs. Delia Buchanan, splicer, had as guests, Mr. Buchanan’s sister of Atlanta, Ga., and his nephew of Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Whitener visited in Washington, D. C., re cently. Mrs. Helen Williams, tie-in-hand, and her husband have moved into their new home in the Love Heights section. CLOTH ROOM Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Greenwood and family of Laudrum, S. C.. visited Mrs. Nell Robinson, Cloth Room. Mrs. Eulalia Brock, cloth burler, her husband, her daughter-in-law, and grandson spent the week end in Greenville, S. C., with relatives. Paysour and family visited the former’s sister in New Jersey during vacation, Jackie Gates, inspector, and her mother spent a week visiting rela tives in Murphy, N, C, Mrs, Lillian Parham, inspector, and her family spent the week end recently in Louisville, Ky, Inspector Edward Dailey and his family spent their vacation visiting relatives in Athens, Ga, SHOP Lathe Operator Cramer Little, Mrs. Cramer Little, and their daughter, Betty, spent their vaca tion with Mrs, Little’s sister and brother-in-law. Dr. and Mrs. John Stewart in Billings, Mont. While there, they toured Yellow Stone National Park and other places. They report a wonderful trip. Henry LeCroy, Shop Office, spent several days at Cherokee during vacation. He attended the drama, “Unto These Hills”. Mr. LeCroy also spent several days at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Painter Ernest Givens spent one week as counselor at Lake Lanier. Mr, Givens and his family also visited at Cherry Grove Beach, Tabor City, N, C., Nashville and Athens, Tenn, Millwright Furman Pearson spent his vacation visiting his brother, Platt Pearson in Newark, N. J., and New York. He visited his uncle, P. D. Smith, in Bdston, Mass. During his trip Mr, Pearson saw several big league baseball games. Electrician Ray Pearson, his wife and son spent their vacation at Crescent Beach, S. C, They were accompanied by Mr, Pearson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs, John Pearson and their son. Assistant Plant Engineer Hazel Cauthen and Mrs. Cauthen spent their vacation at Carolina Beach recently. Other Shop employees enjoying vacations the latter part of July were Thomas Triplett, Horace Hughes, Wade Ledwell, William T. Miller, Bill Gamble, Clyde Foy and Ralph Whitesides. Thompson^ Mr. and Mrs, Ray Owens of Charlotte, N, C. Miss Spencer was organist at the First Methodist Church in Matthews, N. C., and Mr. and Mrs. Whitesides were guest soloists. Mrs. Gladys Nygard, main office, and her husband, Paul, vacationed in North and South Dakota, Can ada, and Missouri, The Nygards motored through thirteen states on the trip. They went especially to visit Mr. Ny- gard’s relatives. On their return trip they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jordan, and their son, Raymond, Jr., in Kansas City, Mo. They reported a wonderful trip, PERSONNEL Mrs. Nellie Stowe and Mrs. W, C. Jumper attended a Foreign Mis sion Work Shop at Bon darken, A, R. P. Presbyterian Church Assembly Ground, for several days, Mrs. Zula Eisenhower spent the week end of July 31, at Boone, N. C., attending the play “Horn In The West”. Mrs. Eisenhower also visited in North Wilksboro, N, C. Thomas Grant and his family had as guests recently, Sgt. and Mrs, Wilbur E. Belt of Fort Dix, New Jersey. Mrs, Belt is Mr. Grant’s sister. Misses Beatrice Bradshaw and Barbara Abernathy spent the week end of July 31, at the latter’s home in Connelly Springs, N. C. The Candid Camera . Higher-than-average attendance at the Playground and pool has been established for the summer, say Playground supervisors. * * * Bingo Parties and Ceramics Classes will be resumed in Septem ber. . The annual North Carolina Slow- Pitch Softball Tournament will bo held at Firestone Textiles, Smyre, and McAdenville on August 20- 21. The tournament, sponsored by the Industrial Division of the North Carolina Recreation Society, will match teams from all over the state including a probable four en tries from this plant.
