PAGE 2 S53SW1 OCTOBER, 1957 175 Pints Collected On Bloodmobile Visit Here ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ o N the most recent stop of the Red Cross bloodmobile at Firestone, no less than 200 donors showed up to contribute 175 pints in one of the most successful turnouts in Gastonia during the past several years. The 176 pints collected here represent 50 be yond the regular quota. Red Cross workers were pleased with the generous response, which saw the Civil Defense quota reached for the first time. Of those who came to volunteer their blood, 162 were Firestone employees. And of this num ber, 1 became a 2-gallon donor, 16 reached the 1-gallon to 1-gallon and 7 pints mark, while 34 were first-time donors. Two general employee categories — the me chanical department and office and supervisory personnel—qualified for blood credit cards under the Group Donor Plan. Each of these depart ments furnished blood to the amount of 20 per cent of its personnel. Time Study—with three members—had 100 per cent participation, with each person reach ing or passing the gallon mark. On the bloodmobile visit here, L. B. McAbee assistant director of Industrial Relations, was re cruitment chairman. He was assisted by Safety Director Alvin Riley. Mrs. Carl Stowe, plant hostess, was chairman of volunteer workers.
