Elect Two New Directors,
Vice Presidents^ Officers
The election of two new
directors, two new vice presi
dents, and two other new
officers was announced by
Harvey S. Firestone, Jr.,
chairman, following the board
of directors’ meeting, January
16.
Elton H. Schulenberg and Earl
B. Hathaway were elected to the
board of directors.
Mr. Schulenberg, formerly treas
urer, was elected vice president
and treasurer, and Herbert H. Wie-
denmann, general production man
ager of U. S. and Canadian tire
plants, became vice president for
tire production. Announcement was
made of the retirement of Harvey
H. Holl’nger as vice president in
charge of finance. Mr. Hollinger
will remain a director.
Robert P. Beasley, an assistant
comptroller, was named an assist
ant treasurer and John K. Smucker,
manager of the budget department,
was made an assistant comptroller.
MR. SCHULENBERG, the new
vice president and treasurer, joined
Firestone in 1927 as a member of
the accounting department. He
successively became chief account
ant, general ledgers auditor and
performed general accounting for
advertising, real estate, home and
auto supply, group insurance and
pensions departments. In 1939, Mr.
Schulenberg was made manager of
the general accounting department,
and in 1945, he became assistant
treasurer of the company. On
January 19, 1957, he was elected
treasurer of the company.
Mr. Hathaway, vice president in
charge of sales, joined the com
pany in July, 1927, as a member
of the sales training course. He
served successively as a district
salesman, tire adjuster, territory
salesman, store manager and as
sistant district manager. In 1938,
Mr. Hathaway was named Detroit
district manager. In 1941 he was
named wholesale sales manager,
and in 1942, he became Eastern
division sales manager. In 1952,
he became general trade sales
manager and was elected vice
president in charge of trade sales
in 1957. He became vice president
in charge of sales on July 31, 1959.

MR. WIEDENMANN, elected
vice president for tire production,
celebrated his thirtieth anniversary
with the company in 1958. Mr.
Wiedenmann has served the com
pany as a production employee,
member of the development de-

partment, general foreman, mana
ger of tire plant, and manager of
fuel cell division. In 1950 he was
named factory manager of the
Pacific Coast plant. Mr. Wieden
mann became manager of Akron
tire plants in 1952 and production
manager of North American tire
plants in 1954.
Mr. Beasley, named assistant
treasurer, has been with Firestone
since 1937. He has held various
positions in the general accounting
department and on the staff of the
comptroller. Since 1947 he has
specialized in tax work for the
company.
Mr. Smucker, chosen assistant
comptroller, joined Firestone in
1935 in the factory accounting de
partment. He was assigned to gen
eral accounting and became mana
ger in that department in 1945.
He was formerly manager of the
budget division.
