Page 6 February 17, 1961 Three In New Posts C. A. Pauley, L. R. Shannon, R. J. Montgomery Promoted Three promotions in the executive organization were announced at the board of directors’ meeting, following the annual stockholders’ meet ing January 21. Claude A. Pauley was pro moted from comptroller to a newly created post of admin istrative director of insurance, pensions and salary compen sation; Lee R. Shannon, formerly assistant comptrol ler, becomes comptroller; and Reid J. Montgomery, formerly manager, budget department, was promoted to assistant comptroller. In addition, John J. Shea, who retired from the active Claude A. Pauley Lee R. Shannon ^management of the company as vice president two years ago after more than 50 years of service, has retired as a director. His retirement was announced at the stock holders’ meeting. * * * MR. SHEA retired after 53 years of service with the com pany. He resigned as vice president and chairman of the finance committee two years ago after 37 years as an officer and director. He joined Firestone in the accounting department in 1907, and became treasurer and a direc tor of the company in 1922. He was elected vice president and treasurer in 1941, vice president in charge of finance seven years later, and became vice president and chairman of the finance com mittee in 1957. Mr. Pauley, who moves up to the newly created post of adminis trative director of insurance, pen sions and salary compensation, has been comptroller of Firestone 18 of the 29 years he has been with the company. Prior to joining the auditing department in 1931 he was an accountant for the General Electric Company and a partner in a Cleve land public accounting firm, and served as auditor for the Sebring, Ohio, Pottery Company. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Pauley attended Western Reserve Univer sity, Pace and Pace School in New York City and Fenn College in Cleveland. He earned the degree of certified public accountant in 1925. * >!< MR. SHANNON, with Firestone since 1935, has served as comp troller of The Firestone Rubber and Latex Products Company; civilian manager of the Blue Grass Ordnance Depot, operated by Firestone for the government; and manager of the company’s budget department. He was deputy assist ant secretary of defense for two years and upon his return to the company in 1957 was named assist ant comptroller. A native of East St. Louis, III, Mr. Shannon is a certified public accountant and an attorney. In 1950 he joined the general auditing depart ment staff and was named man ager of the general accounting division in 1955, and manager of the budget department in 1960. Born in Richwood, Ohio, Mr. Montgomery is a graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Reid J.
