GASTONIA PLANT
JUNE. 1991
VOL. 4. NO. 10
PLANT MANAGER’S MESSAGE
By: J. Anand
Based on the latest projections for
tire sales and the resulting tire
plant shutdowns we have decided to
shut down our plant the week of July
8th in addition to the week of July
4th. Estimates for tire sales in the
next few months are still not very
optimistic.
Congratulations to all shifts that
have gone without a recordable injury
during the last six months.
Approximately two-thirds of all
people qualify for this award and,
although we have had some injuries
this year, our accident rate is
better than at this time last year.
Let's work hard to further improve
this performance.
TQC
PARTNERSHIP
■ 91
On Friday, June 21 we had our 2nd
Plant-wide TQC Presentations. The
seven teams participating this year
were; PUMP, KEY SAFETY, LEADER 1,
WASTE REDUCTION, ELIMINATORS, WHITE
HAT and the PACK-R-CRACKERS.
The LEADER 1 team from Treating was
selected to represent Gastonia in
the Partnership '91 presentation to
be held in Akron August 7th and 8th.
The purpose of Partnership '91 is to
share the results of teams' efforts
throughout BFS North America during
the past year and to select a team to
participate in the special 100th
Bridgestone Deming Plan Presentation
to be held at the Technical Center in
Kodarira (Japan) October 29 through
November 2, 1991.
Good luck LEADER 1 !!1
