SPECIAL MESSAGE TO PA E1/.PL0YEBS
It has never been my opinion that even
one minute of time should be wasted in
discussing or even thinking about rumors
originiating from unreliable sources.
However, it is apparent that there is a
great deal of concern and discussion
among us about several rumors, all of
which, I believe originated from the
same source and in general apply to the
present status of the Army Hangar.
Major Schmidt of the Office of Flying
Safety, who is presently in charge of
all Army facilities on the field, has
informed me that he has advised Washing
ton to release the Amy hangar on June
30th of this year. Between now and that
time, the hangar will be solely under
Army jurisdiction and will house Army
trucks, fire engines, etc. Major Schmidt
further advised that on July 1st this
hangar will be turned over to the For
syth County Airport Ccanmission. Our
lease agreement with the Airport Comm
ission specifically states that any
property given up by us when the Amy
moved in T.’ill be turned back over to us
when the Army moves out.
These are the facts and I want you to
know that it is not our desire to with
hold any information concerning the Com
pany. Your expressed interest and con
cern is deeply appreciated, and you may
rest assured that you will be kept in
formed of any conditions which will mat
erially affect the progress of your Com
pany. However, we all have too much to
do vidthout concerning ourselves with
ruiTiOrs, and you are the one who can put
a stop to it»

THE FLIGHT DEPARTL'Ji^NT
V/e are all very happy for our own Rrank
Groat who has been asked to fly a brand
new twin-engine Beechcraft fcr a local
manufacturing company. Th^ expect de
livery of the ship shortly after June
1st, so it will be hard to hold Frank
down. Frank has been with us since the
beginning of the company and is largely
responsible for the progress we have
made. Vie hate to lose him, but it^s
good to know tlrat he will still be in
town, and we wish him the best of suc
cess in his TOnderful new position.
We would like to take this opportunity
to tell Marion Schlosburg how much \ve
hate to see him leave Piedmont. Sch
losburg is going back to Camden to go
into business with his Father. His
loss v/ill certainly be felt by us.
PIEDMONT’S SOFTBALL TEAM
Piedmont's new softball team played
their first game of the season yester
day afternoon against Tire Rebuilders
and won an easy victory of 15 to 3.
Everyone played a good game and we hope
that all future games will be: victor
