I Imov/ inany of you 'jnust work pretty hard getting this paper out and I hope you realize in pai’t how much we appreciate all you good people are doing, V/e are pretty busy sometimes and fail to write as much as v;e should but nevertheless we are thinlwing of those back home and hurrying the day when wo v^ill be back swapping yarns on the corncr and doing the things we left off when we carae into the arriiy. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting anybody from back home yet so it gets kinda’ lonesome sometimes but I just get my paper out and start reading it and it gives mo a new strength and I feel that someday sonewhere I will meet some body from back there during ny army career. I thiiilc that if all the boys that worked in the Dye House or Uill could got together over there wc could sure mop up on the Japs in a big v;ay. Sirs: Just received third copy of **Hot off the Hoover Rail” today. I think its K . a grand little paper. I enjoy reading it very much. Some of the other guys hero on the ship got a kick out of reading the jokes and poems. Somo of them wanted to read it today before I had a chance to read it myself, I also receive a copy of "The Rotary Grara" sent out by the citizens of Shelby, which is a very nice little paper . I found the names of some of the boys from our county who have been reported f.iissing 'in action, I was very r.TUch shocked to know Everette HcNeely, one of ry best friends, has boon reported missing in action. Wc Icnow you people back home arc sti eking beliind us and we are all willing to go just the w ay Everette did if it will keep Old Glory waving high, 'iVoll, wish I could tell where I am and, what I am doing, but can’t. I still thinlc the "Navy” is the best branch of service.
