The Chief Executive of our State has honored us with a very interesting inossa£^ and we deeply appreciate his interest in our little ma^'a-zine. " I have- been privileged to read a reccnt copy of the most interesting publication called "Hot Off the Hoover Rail", dedicated to the men and women from the Cleveland Hil]. and Power Company who are now in the amied services of the nation. This is one of the most interest ing publications that I have seen since the war be^jan and I wish to con- £Tatulate all v/ho have had a part in makin^^ this issue such a £^rcat suc cess, I am quite certain that the men and women ;vho may be in service will eagerly await the succeeding issues of .this paper, which ' {dve them so much intei*estin^ nev;s about the fcllcs at home. I had the.privilege a few months ago of fping through the plant and I was highly pleased with this experience, I wish to say to the men and women in the armed services who read this publication that the State of North Carolina is proud of the record vrtiich they are making. V/e now have more" than two hundred and thirty thousand North Carolina boys in the armed services of our nation. This is nearly three times the number we had .in the first v;orld war. They are to be found on every fighting field and are malcing a record in keeping with the highest traditions of the State. I express to those employees who are carrying on the work at home my heartiest congratulations and best wishes. Cordially, J. M. Broughton Crovemor of North Carolina De^r Jim: For several months I have been reading your "Hot Off The Hoover Rail' and I have just finished the September issue handed to me by my friend, J, T.
