M2V/S FROM THE rROMT
I am sorry that I have not v/ritten be
fore no;v but I couldn*t, I can't say why
for the censor would^nt like it but now
that I can write you I want to tell you
how much I enjoy the paper, I think it is
the best thing that you all could do for
the boys in the service for I know that
they are all like me, anxious to hear all
they can from back home and most of all to
Imow where some of our buddies are, and
Jim, there is nothing that could ever pep
me up as much as the ."Hoover Rail” does.
When I get doivn in the dumps I get out ray
"Hoover Rail" and’ start reading,' I bet I
have read the tv/o, I have gotten, at least
six or ci^t times, a picce. So when the months roll around, please don’t forget me
for I■ will be looking forv/ard to getting each issue, and Jim did I go straight up when
I saw all the girls pictures, to think I had to write my votes on a piece of paper and
mail them to you when the last one they had I was there in person to do my voting, and
'"I I mad because my girl’s picture was not on the page. No I am just teasing about
bhe picture for I have two of her with me, so I know how she looks, without her pict
ure being in'the group. Here’s best of wishes to the "Hooverrilail" staff and keep the
^;ood work up. My address is still the same as before,
John F, Wease, S.2/c
o/o Fleet Postmaster
How’s the wheels of time rolling up around Lawndale? Sure dp hope everybody is
feeling swell these cool nights. Down in Mississippi its cool enough to sleep under
a blrnlcet at night. Then in the dayt^e you’d feel fine in the old swiiming hole.
Well, we don’t kick. Its o,k, with us fellows down here.
Sure am sorry I failed to give you all my new address, I have missed getting the
"Hoover R;\il", the first of the month, I was transferred over to the pill rolling
house a while back. Still in the spjne camp, but have a different address, I decided
I’d better lot you know where I Wv*is at once. That "Hoover Rail" is too big and fine
for me to miss getting, I just got the August paper a few days ago. It finally cau
ght up 7?ith me.
I’m hoping I can get this letter to you in time to enter my vote in the pretty
gal contest, TTd have so many heart-breakers up there, it was hard for me to decide
vjhich one to vote for. At last I made up my mind, Hope they all win I I’m sure it
vail be a hot race. The votes will come from so mr.ny places. Anyway, I’m looking
forward to seeing "Miss Lav;ndale",
Well, I can’t say there is much going on around here of interest to you folksy
Wc are all doing our best to help back the attack, V/o can’t all be over there, neither
can v;e all be here. Wc have to have a chain that reaches all around. As it happens,
I’m still at Van Dom. I’m trying awful hard to help in this great cauw*5e all I can.
Tl'cn we can all return to the land v;e love, and friends and loved ones v/e left behind,
I can see you all are still with us. Just the kind of people old North Carolina
is proud of. G?he "Hoover Rail" hasn’t been beat yet in a paper from home, Boyl It is
a swell paper to have reach cut to each of us every month. That shows that you all are
vdth us a hundred per cent. That is a great help to us who are away,
