Dear Boys and Girls; I feel i^eatly honored to write you through the Hoover Rail, A lot of you remember gathering on Grassy Branch for a swim in the old mill pond, then-climbing trees, having ball games, playing fox, and another swim to cool off, then back to the house for a raid in the kitchen. V/ell, the little boys have taken your places, but can't fill it as you did. Summie still has some bees (real bees, not Goofey*s kind). They swarm about every day, and what a time I They really help him to get to Lawndale because he has to have slats to make his gums an! racks. He misses you, Jim, to help. You should have seen him the day he tried to run, his foot got tangled in a vine. Be sorry for anything that was under him. Boys, we are proud of every one of you and feel that God has been with you all and pray he will be to the end, then bring you safely home. May God continue to bless you. Love to all »»Mom" (Mrs, L.S. Eaker)' A TRUE MOTHER A mother is like the sun that vjarms the body, A mother is like the restful dark at night. She is what broken bread is for the hungry. She is like fountain water filled with light. So give her the shining jewels of endeavor. And give her the warru red rubies of your love, Then bring her the clean white diamonds of pure living— ' These are the gifts she will bo radndful of. —Grace Noll- Crowell,
