Dear Boys:
I have been chosen as Father of
the Month for this issue, and, like
all the other fathers who have
v/ritten you in the past, I feel
that it is a great privilege. It
gives me the opportunity to say
Hello to both my sons, Jim and "
"Peck," - and to all the other
many boys from Lawndale.
Everything here in your old
home town is about as usual. V/e
are running the mill six days per week, trying to make all the equipment that we
can, that you boys need. I understand that the twines and threads we manufacture
go into making uniforms, tents, camouflage netting, and many more vital needs.
Therefore, we feel that we are helping you in a direct way.
We are all glad that Hitler and his.gang are now out of the picture and we
hope and pray it won't be long before you boys finish off the Japs. \%en all of
you boys join together in Tokyo, the world will rejoice and say well done;
Boys, as you know, it is Spring here at home, the trees stand out green and
inviting over the old Hoover Rail to w^jlcome you all back home again. The weather
is getting right now for some real loafing on the Rail, no sweaters and'coats are
needed now, just shirt sleeves ar*d "elbow room" - but wo can always slide over and
make room for one more. It will be a happy day when we who have stayed at home can
slide over and make room for all of you' returning boys.
May God speed the day when all of you come home. Until^then, good luck.
Your Dad of the Month
Jim Blanton
