Zeb has been recently liberated from a German prison Camp and is now enjoying a well deserved 60-day rest at home. He was im prisoned at various times at Stalag U-A, Stalag 3-a, and also at Stalag 12-a - he says that all the atrocity stories we hear are absolutely true and do not exaggerate the bestiality of the German Race. Pvt. Zeb was wearing the Combat Infantryman's Badge, also the European Theatre . At the end of his furlough, Zeb will report to Camp Butne: The writer certainly enjoyed talking with Zeb and hopes the Best of Luck in all ho undertakes. Pfc. Thelbert V/illiams arrived here today, June 20th. Thelbert has been serving in Germany and was wounded several weeks ago. He is now receiving treatment at the Lawson General Hospital in Atlanta, but they gave him a 30-day furlough, after which he will return there for further treatment. Thelbert has five youngsters, two boys and three girls, can't you just imagine the terrific thrill these kids got out of their Dad's homecoming. Come by and see us while you're home, Thelbert, we'd be very glad to see you. FURLOUGH NEVJS IN REVERSE ^Irs, Armand ^Vhitener recently spent two weeks in New York City with her husband, F 2/c Armand Whitener. Mrs. ^Vhitener reports a most wonderful time, plenty of sight seeing, shows, etc, - she stayed with Armand until he was scheduled to leave for Eiami, Fla,, where she rather expected they would then ship him overseas. Mrs, "Cannie" Vfallace spent several days this past month with her husband, S 2/c Cannic Wallace in Boston, Mass, Lucy Belle left their cute baby with her Mother here, and she and Cannie really had a marvellous tine. Shortly after her visit, Cannie was sent to Shoemaker, Calif, where he expects an assignment in the Pacific Theatre, \ Dr, and Ifrs. A.C. Edwards spent the week-end of June 8th in Raleigh, N.C., where they were joined by their son, Lt.(jg) Byard Edwards. Byard is a Dentist at Camp Peary, Va, but finds it hard to get to Lawndale on his week-ends, so the family compromised by meeting him in Raleigh, which was lots of fun, I'm sure, Mrs. Jim Osborne, and Miss Patty Osborne spent a recent week-end with Pfc. Jimmy Osborne at Greenville, S.C, They had loads of fun sight-seeing at the Air Base, even, got in a Celestial Navigation Trainer, but Mrs. Osborne was scared, no foolin'. Patty and Jimmy had a huge time at the dances and Patty enjoyed singing with the,Camp Croft Orchestra who were playing for one of the dances, HOME FTOM OVERSEAS Just as we go to press, we heard that Cpl. Eliga Waters has been home for a 3-iay pass. He came home from Fort Bragg, N.C. where he had recently arrived from Germany. Eliga has been overseas serving in Italy, France and Germany for the last 20 months. Cpl. Water's wife and two children were thrilled to see their soldier and are look- i^ forward to his discharge - he's hoping for one, he's got over a 100 points to his credit - We're pulling for you, "Lige," hope you get it.
