- APRIL TRAFFIC -
Carrying a total of 14,721 passengers for the month of April (incidentally a 30 day month)
put us lj731 ahead of the April quota. The May quota of 15,500 should be topped. The
load factor for the month of April was better than 51%, and is a load factor to be proud
of. Once achieved it should be pushed higher. With new schedules and beginning of
vacation travel it shouldn’t be too difficult to break all past records. To carry this
many passengers Maintenance during April had to be good. To maintain our schedules
in May it’s got to be perfect. Let’s see what Nick says about it:
‘‘As you know we will have 9 planes in service beginning April 29» with a total block to
block time of about 89 hours per day» This will be flown with 8 planes, the 9th being
the only maintenance spare. For your information, this will establish the following main-
teriatice work load per month: 36 No. 1 inspections; 9 No. 2 Inspections; 9 No. 3 In
spections; 6 Engine Changes; 3 Prop changes.
Our utilization of aircraft over the past year has kept us in first or second position al
most continuously and it appears the new schedule will assure us of first place while
it is in effect. This is something for which this airline is justly proud, and indicates
the willingness and ability of the entire department to do its full share. In order that
Maintenance is advised of “How goes it’% a graph showing the days with no mechanical
delays is being put up near the aircraft status board. Also, any delays encountered on
any aircraft will be entered in Red chalk in the remarks column of the aircraft in
volved. Let’s see how many days we can get ‘‘No Delays”. ” - H. W. Nickerson.
