STATE CREDIT UNION LEAGUE ELECTS TOM MORTON TO BOARD AS PAI MEMBERS AID INT MEET The maximum period of time for which a loan may be secured from the Credit Union was re cently Increased from 12 to 18 months by unanimous approvaI of the Board of Directors. Many persons prefer to finance home appliances and other art icles through the Credit Union and it was felt that this ex tension of time would enable more persons to participate. It was also decided that the maximum amount that may be borrowed on a regular note with co-signers as security remains at $400, plus the amount of shares the applicant has in the Cred 11 UnI on . Your Credit Union Is well started on what seems to be a- nother excellent year of oper ation, with greater participa tion In savings than ever be fore. As the organization grows. It is hoped that avail able services to members will also increase, so don't be left behind - If you have any fi nancial problems, be sure to investigate the Credit Union p fan first. Many members may not be aware of this, but each dollar that a member has In his savings account Is matched with a dol lar of life Insurance up to a maximum of $1,000. For example, a member having $500 In savings will have $1,000 go to his beneficiary In the case of his death - the $500 in his account plus $500 in life Insurance. This Insurance also pays the unpaid balance of any loan out standing In case of death. This Insurance service is made available by your Credit Union at no additional cost to the members. .... Ken Ross and Will Blackmon en couraged par11cI pa11 on by con tacting the other Credit Unions In Winston-Salem, encouraging them to send delegates^ Melba HIvely assisted with the pro gram for the banquet by playing the'piano for several dance numbers, and Tom Morton acted as general chairman of the con- ven 11 on , Several Item* of business con cerning the work of Credit Unions were discussed. Includ ing work done by the League to encourage passage of a bill now before He N. C. Legislature to Increase the maximum allow able unsecured loan from $50 to $400. Favorable reports were also given concerning the Credit Union's fight against legislation which has been In troduced to levy Income taxes against Credit Unions, and to require Credit Unions to carry F.D.I.C. Insurance. B. L. Webster, managing direct or of the league, reported that 19 new Credit Unions were or ganized In N. C. during the past year and emphasized that interest in this work Is In creasing greatly. -2- OVERHAUL NEARS COMPLETION FOR NEWEST PAI SHIP The airline's newest Pacemaker now being converted to PAI standards will emerge from INT overhaul about June 15 as N54V, H. M, Cartwright, Superintendent of Maintenance, has advised. Other ships scheduled for over haul included: N50322 - center section rework, due in June 15 and out June 18, wh ich wi I I bring the entire PAI fleet up to date In compliance with this type of order. N65282 Is due for 10,000 major inspection and overhaul June 20, and should be back out July 31. N53V will be out of tIme on March 31, 1954, for a 10,000 overhaul, but at the present time It is planned to overhaul and convert it to PAI standards on August I, 1953. Due to the schedule being In creased May I instead of June I, as previously planned. It was necessary to delay the work on this aircraft until August. This will necessitate u*Ing the ship on schedule beginning May I and up through July. Because of this setup, the fol lowing work has been accomplished; instrument panel; electrical overhead panels; hydraulic panel; Grimes instrument lights; Fen- waM over heat switches and light; vacuum warning system, manifold pressure sump drains, all standard PAI systems. 46V will be out of time Dec. 14 and will go Into overhaul for 10,000 inspection. ATA MEET (CONTINUED) Representing Piedmont, Captalft Brown attended the meeting, which also had representatives from CAA and several other air lines. It was decided that the Corbin VOR should be construct ed before the Corbin VAR Is discontinued, and that the Glenbrook VOR may be discontin ued, as it cannot be approved for navigational use.
