being approved by R. E. Turbl- vflle, and operattons needs by J, W* Lewis, then turned over to shioplnq and receiving for preparation and delivery. The printing room, which has the mountainous task of keeping the entire system supplied with stationery and printing mater ial Is staffed by Roy Pruitt and R. Vernon. L. J. Lam bert Is Chief Storekeeper for the airline stockroom. In the above olcture, Roy Pruitt is readying one of the many forms printed In the print shop, dominated by the multi Mth ma chine, shown in foreground, being operated by W. R. Vernon. A mountain of printed matter goes out from this office every month and Improved methods of handling the printing are con stantly being employed* LYH IN NEW QUARTERS FINDS BUSINESS DOUBLED Shown below Is one small of the high-tlered vast-corri- dored stockroom, where ')/alt Russell is checking out items for INTM and L. J. Lambert is looking over requisitions at the background desk. Being that this Is the first bit of news for quite some time from our station, would like to say first that our new quarters are far superior to the old hut we sectlon'Jsed to have. We now have win dows Instead of painted screens and a roof that doesn’t leak. Our new offices, though not as elaborate as some of the termi nal buildings on the system, are completely ample for our opera tion and it Is a real pleasure to have the facilities. N'ot only has the office changed but the personnel has also. Bill Dearing and Jack Elliott have joined us and have made excell ent agents plus CharIie Clark and Henry Minnik were put on the payroll iVarch 1st and are in the process so welI known of learn ing the million and one things they have to learn. Norvel Van- degrift left us to go into driving school business. Bobbie Hi I I, Clyde Vaughan, \J!/arren Foster and myself are still a- round, some getting fatter, some qetting thinner, all getting older and none getting younger. Since American left here sever al months ago we have experi enced an Increase In business to the tune of around 150 to 200 percent. This, of course, leaves NNW to fight It out with someone else for the title of being low man on the totem pole. PEOPLE YOU HAVE TO LOOK OUT FOR : Jack Elliott when the boys are thirsty and start matching. That guy is murder on a flip of the coin. Ask any of us who k n ow . PEOPLE WHO WOULD LIKE OUR SCALP: Rick Almond of TVS and personnel at SDF and CVG for routing so much air freight their way. In March we put on 11,812 pounds. PEOPLE WE ENJOY WORKING WITH; College girls. Put 117 on in one day here last month. Still it has its drawbacks. They had 192 bags (all heavy) and we made out 35 excess baggage cou pons and seven out of eight of us here are ma r r I ed . PEOPLE WHO PROBABLY WISH WE WOULD DROP DEAD: Bob Rose and crew in RIC who have to have the tremendous volume of off line requests including the flights out of DCA LGA etc., that were formerly handled by AAL. Want to add that they are doing a aood job of getting them back to us and being tol erant with our mistakes. *•••.•• .Charlie Russell -is- ■»> SOFTBALL TEAM WINS OPENING GAMES AS FUTURE HOPES HIGH Winning both starting games with wide margins has sent Piedmont AviatioiT*s softball team Into the summer schedule with high confidence, Henry Wood, manager, announced.
