Praise was high for the program committee In the successful planning and handli.ng of the picnic which saw an abundance of excellent food and drink, and entert3inment for the ju venile picnickers. Main feature of the program which climaxed a perfect day was the presentation of service pin awards to some 193 employ ees, including sixteen who re ceived 10-year wings* Throughout the afternoon, the record crowd enjoyed swimming and Informal gatherings to re new a cqu a I n t an ce s , while the youngsters took to swings and a slide, provided by Sears, rode patient ponies owned by Clyde Myers, and generally had a fine time romping over the coo I ground s • The excellently prepared food, barbecue,,hamburgers and hot dogs, was served by Leroy*s competent staff, and everyone had all they could handle. Boxes full of soft drinks, iced to perfection, were available in ample quantities. Balloons, suckers and bubble gum'"were also provided and add ed to the enjoyment of the youngsters, who were present in greater numbers than at any previous picnic. The loud speaker and record system was set up by the Radio Department. Mr. W. A. Blackmon was chairman of the picnic committee and was assisted by Stan Brunt, bever ages and ponies; J. R. Reagan, sound equipment; Henley Day, playground equipment; W. W. Wall, food; C* W. Gough, life guards and recreation; W. C. Harpe, transportation; A. H. Burton, Reid Cook and Marvin Hemb el, general.
