FIXED BASE FLASHES Mr, and Mrs. Northmgton spent a pleas ant two weeks In California in February. They had a wonderful flight out, with per fect weather of around 80 every day, but they were still glad to get home. Joe Culler and Mr. Northington attended the Piper Distributor-Dealer meeting in Sarasota, Florida, the latter part of February, They tell us this was one of the most interesting meetings and that they had the opportunity of seeing further dem onstrations of the new Piper Twin Apache, as well as some of the more interesting features of the Piper Tri-Pacer. By the way, Joe, how was the water skiing??? We are happy to have Dwight Roope with us, working as a lineman, Eddie Culler says Dwight is doing a fine job, too. Hop Hee Dunne, our cute little Link In structor, spent a very exciting week on a shopping (?) spree in New York City. Was that all you went for. Hop Hee? All you girls will be interested to know we have a new selection of Rayban sun glas ses here at Fixed Base. They are the very latest styles, with the different colored plastic frames, in five beautiful patterns. Stop in and see if we can't fix you up be fore the summer sun gets In your eyes. Joan Joy, Maxine Walker, Carolyn Manos and your reporter spent a very exciting weekend in Columbia, S. C. Maxine flew the girls down In her blue Stinson, and we saw the town, including a tour of the Capitol and Fort Jackson. From all reports, our new Sales Represen tative, John Johnson, is doing a bang-up job, selling lots of parts and accessories. Keep up the good work, John, We want to extend a personal Invitation to all of you to come see our new 1954 Piper Tri-Pacers, the sharpest little air planes on the market today, especially our ivory and red ones, with red leather interior, Eddie Culler brought a new one down from the facrory about three weeks ago, and it*s a honey! Joan Joy and I flew up to Louisville to do a little shopping. Came back loaded down with shoes and pleasant memories, Marian Harris When price is an Issue, talk about value. FIXED BASE GREASE MONKEY SHINES You've missed something If you haven't seen the three R-1830 engines "Red" Willard's crew In the Engine Shop has turned out this year for executive aircraft. One was for the Corps of Engineers, and two for the Reynolds Company plane, now In overhaul. These engines, with their shiny paint jobs and brightly plated hard ware really look good. And, incidentally, the first Reynolds engine was checked In the test-stand with a Sperry Ignition ana lyzer and didn't show a single flaw! Ray mond Fletcher and Hode Watson continue their almost unnoticed job of turning out equally good looking and fine running engines for the smaller executive aircraft. Still on the subject of good-looking things, take a look at the paint job Othel Wagner has just put on the Company's Bonanza, Radio Shop Is putting in new radio equip ment, and Eddie Culler has reflnlshed the Interior In blue plastic with matching felt side panels. Wonder if the soft drink people, who busted up Jim Stout's car paid off In sody- pop??? And reckon Jake Rowe has that driver’s license yet??? ,, , ^ Henley Day
