On the lower floor of Winston-Salem's terminal
building is the control center for Piedmont's flight
operations. Here a staff of nine men, six dispat
chers and three assistants, keep track of the status
of all Piedmont flights, weather and field condi
tions, and the status of all airways facil ities. Their
job is to coordinate traffic requirements with oper
ational requirements, to moke the over-all oper
ation smooth and profitable.
The nine-man staff has a total of over 120 years of
experience. Let's meet these men and find out a
I ittle about them.

R. H. KITCHEN
Jack Mott, Chief Dispatcher, a Texan by birth,
broke into aviation in 1935 with Braniff as San
Antonio Station Manager. He became a dispatcher
in 1938 and left to go with Consolidated Vultee
as Chief Dispatcher in 1944. In 1946, Jack joined
Pioneer os Chief Dispatcher, leaving in 1947 to
join PAI as Chief.
Moe Moser, a native of Scranton, Pa., joined the
Army Air Corps in 1940 os a Forecaster. In 1945,
^ he joined Braniff as a Meteorologist and Assistant
Dispatcher, coming with Piedmont as Dispatcher in
1948.

Coppy Coppenbarger, who comes from Urbana, Illinois, started as Airport Manager in Jackson, Mississippi, and broke into airline
work with Pan American as Station Manager in Lima, Peru, in 1941. He becamea Dispatcher in Santiago, Chile, in 1943, and
returned to the States as a Dispatcher with National in 1944. He was Chief Dispatcher with Carribean Atlantic from 1946 to 1948
when ne joined Piedmont as Dispatcher.
Frank Leone, from Utica, New York, joined the Navy in 1934 to begin his aviation career. He became a Meteorologist, and in
193? went with C&S as a Meteorologist and Dispatcher. Frank joined Piedmont in 1948 as Dispatcher.
