MAY FIVE YEAR PINS Edward J. Wisnieski - Louisville Jack C. Kelly - Charleston John D. West - Charlotte CHIEF PILOT GETS JET TRAINING Due to the ever-increasing numbers of jet- powered aircraft being integrated into the Air Traffic Control picture, USAF is cur rently sponsoring a familiarization program for the senior pilots of the various air! ines, so that they may be made aware of jet operational problems. Representing Pied mont was Captain Frank Nicholson, Sys tem Chief Pilot, who last week received T-33 training at Moody AFB, Valdosta, Ga. In the class with Frank were nine AF Colonels, a Rear Admiral, and a National Airlines Chief Pilot. beginning Monday, June 7, Frank experi enced 15 hours ground school and ten hours ship time. Most of the course con sisted of jet instrument training, with the last day being devoted to a round-robin cross country. Naturally, Frank had the time of his life, and returned sounding vaguely like G-8 and his Battle Aces. Frank and Zeke Saunders matched for the assignment, but, unfortunately for Zeke, Frank hasn't been out-flipped in years and won handily.
