7Ae PIEDMONITOR VOLUME 6 - NO. 9 PUBLISHED AND PRINTED BY PIEDMONT AVIATION, INC. SEPTEMBER 1954 I BIGGEST PICNIC EVER! > ^rAugust 21 at Camp Hanes, approximately 800 Piedmont employees and their guests gathered for the ^ annual picnic. Under the genial chairmanship of Stan Brunt' the day's events went off like clockwork with few mishaps. Mony employees showed up bright and early for fishing, and as the day progressed, more and more swimsuit clad picnickers appeared on the scene. Early in the afternoon, various contests got under way, with the boat race providing the biggest thrills. Judges Tom Davis and Bob Northington, doubtless carried away by the heat of competition, stood up in their canoe for a better view of the finish. The canoe promptly snap-rolled, pitching both of the eminent jurists into the briny, needless to say, fully clothed. In the ensuing ex citement, the winner of the race went unnoticed, although rumors have reached this office that Tom Morton won by a hair, with Walt ick and Forrest Shelton hot on his wake. Like some aquatic denizen of the deep, Herm Kitchen displayed his Sunday crawl stroke and made off /ith the honors in the swimming races.
