OSBORNE The unsung heroes of any airline are fhe boys in the hangar who work on the great iron bird in every kind of weather .Presented here with is one of Piedmont's top-notch maintenance crews, and there's no better. Bill Johnson is Forman of this gang. He's a native of North Carolina, is an ex-Marine, joined Piedmont in 1948. E . L■ Hurt is Lead Mechanic, a Virginian, ex-Navy, been with PAI since 1950. R. C. Rothrock, Senior Mechanic, isfrom INT,an AAF veteran, has been with us since 1951. Dan McGuire is a Senior Mechanic, a Virginian, came to us in 1951. Bob Foreman is a Senior Mechanic from Ohio, is both a Marine and Air Force veteran, joined us in 1952. Ray Satterfield is the "promotingest" Senior you ever saw, a Winstonite, Navy veteran, came to us in 1951. D. B. (Dewberry) Johnson is Mechanic, came to us as stock clerk in 1950,went to Maintenance in 1951. J. V. Holbrool^ Mechanic from Stokesdale, N. C. started his training with USAAF, came to Piedmont in 1952. H. S. Norman , another Winstonite, is a USAAF vet, came to us in 1952. Tommy Robinson came to Fixed Base in 1948, came to the Airline in 1952. He was on vacation when these pictures were taken. F. D. Spillman is from Yadkin County, N.C., is an AAF veteran, joined Piedmont in 1952. Bobby Davis is from Elizabethtown, N.C., came here in 1951 . G. E. Osborne i s from High Point, served in the Air Corps, came to Piedmont in 1953. H. W. Kreeger completes the crew, hails from Winston, is a Navy veteran, came to us in 1951 . This is an exceptionally fine group of men, who deserve a great deal of respect for their untiring efforts. Whenever you ride the Route of the pacemakers, remember It was the hard work, skinned knuckles, and sweat of the lids that made your trip possible.
