RALEIGH DURHAM - A big hello to all of you from RDU, the station with the newest look of all. October 1 was moving day and, of course, it rained. This may have slowed the process a little, but by midnight of the 1st, PAI-RDU,was settled in the brand new $425,000 terminal bidg. - rain or no rain. PARKERSBURG - We here in PKB would I ike to say hel lo to everybody on the system. We are glad to see the Piedmonitor back in business again. Sure have missed it. Piedmont has been accepted very well by the people In PKB and Marietta. We had a lot of publicity from the newspapers in both cities. When we first came to PKB we put the President on the side of t h e paper and took the headi ines . We think we have a very good station here as far as passengers are concerned. Our station boarded 443 passengers last month, and with the new flight we hope to get 500 every month. The stork made a visit here on Sept.22 and left Jack Gwennap a new station agent - his weight was 7 lbs. llozs. How about that I Jack said he would be good on the P A system with the lungs he has. Would like to wish the new one all the luck In the world. PKB Is manned by the fol lowing personnel: Jack Gwennap, Station Manager, from PHF, Colt Harris from CLt,Jlm Kendricks from CHW, Pete Martin from ROA and Virgil Flinn from PKB. Some of us,being sentimentalists anyway, felt a little sad about deserting the rambl ing white wooden terminal that had shudder^ ed and groaned through Hurricane Hazel, stood in ghostly stillness through many an airport fog,and seen itsshare of the human panorama since 1946. However, I gues we're more practical than sentimental after al 1, for we all agree that these modern conveniences are here to stay. Already we're wondering how we ever got along without the smooth cork tile floor behind the ticket counter; the time-saving, step- saving Intercom; or the bright new head sets and fancy round-table for reservations. Oh, yes - and the boss even has his own private office! PINEHURST - SOUTHERN PINES - With the closing of MYR, SOP station opened for business October 1 with A. B. Casey as Manager and Agents Charles Swift from BKW and Julius Dean from MYR. After a rather hectic summer at MYR,dur ing which we sparred with three hurricanes, we find this a welcome change. -6- \ \ Mr. Davis paid us a visit the second day we were in our new quarters which some how made us feel more at home .He seemed to share our enthusiasm about the change We wish all of you would come see for yourselves. The surroundings will be different, but the same old faces will be here to greet you. Fabrlzio went to DCA He likes It swell up there Say's lots of things like work and girls Are there for all to share. Woznisky over the hills to ROA For party's she said to stop Was there last Friday, then she moaned "I'm tired from work, too pooped to pop." From Central Airlines out Midwest Bill Farmer came our way We welcome him, he's doing fine He must like us, he'd like to stay.
