TRI CITIES Confd. now in DCA. Betfy Breden, who went to CMH to help out Ohio State. Watch out for back field inmotion. All kidding aside, good luck to all of you in your new jobs and I ocations. On the entertainment side, the personnel here at TRI were treated to a steak dinner and dance. |t was held at Meredith's Boat Dock on Boone Lake. Believe it or not no one fell in. This occasion was a prize which we won in a contest sponsored by AAL in TYS. A very nice award. The re maining cost was backed by Chase Nationd Bank....The'visiting VIP's attending this feast were; Al Leach,Traffic Rep. AAL in TYS, Johnny Lewis, !NT, R.E-Turbeville, INT. The remaining portion of the joyful crowd was made up of TRI personneI,wives and dates. Everyone seemed to have had a wonderful time. Thanks to everyone for making it a big success. In the vacation dept, we have P. Puckett and B. Pickel . Squire Puckett will most likely eat, sleep, shake a few hands, kiss a few babies and get bitten by a few canine strays. B. Pickel heard that gold had been discovered on the west coast,so he gather ed up his family and is flying to the small town of LAX. Have a nice time. Well, this is about all for now. {see afew Pacemakers coming up the ramp, sol'll have to get back to work. See you all next month. WASHINGTON - About 2200 DCA time, Saturday, September 10, an unsigned message was received on teletype. Chi^ Agent Ed Wisnieski dutifully posted said message on the station bul letin board . Psychologists and related genera have for years been hammering away at the idea of individual differences and have succeeded to the extent that the idea is today general ly accepted. Ail this brings us to the reaction of DCApersonnel to the important missive. Reservationist, jona Carr, received the message and , appreciating its import, cal bd it to the attention of Chief Agent Wisnie ski, who smiled gleefully. Later, after the message was posted for the attention of all personnel. Ticket Agent Winston Hall read the posted missive, as all good station personnel do, reacted not violent ly, but certainly In a manner that would delight the cockles of the sender’s heart. If you know the sharp broken cry of a hen -8- laboriously laying a large egg - a square one - you know the kind of cackle - and the duration of it.To thesender, we wou Id express our appreciation for being instru mental in imparting moments of mirth to our new station. For those who missed this, the message read: Instruct ions to Senior Agents. |t has come to the attent ion of the management that employees have been dying on the job and refusing or neglecting to keel over. This practice must stop. In the future if a senior agent notices that an employee has made no move ment for a period of two hours it will be his duty to investigate because it will be almost impossible to distinguish between death and natural movements of some employees. Senior agents are cautioned to make a careful investigation, holding a pay check in front of the s u s p e c ted employee is generally considered an authen tic test but there have been cases reported where the natural instinct has been so deeply imbedded that the hand of the em ployee has made a spasmodic clutch even after rigor mortis has set in. Your coopera tion will be appreciated. Reservationist,Betty Caudill, began work ing for RAI August 2,1954 inthe Account ing Dept.-INT.Prior to employment with PA|,she labored for Motor Sales Co., INT. Transferred to DCA Reservations Aug. 10, she is enjoying her work very much. She finds flying delightful. Before joining PAI in DCA Aug.23, Daphne was employed by Western Electric Co., Inc ., Winston-Salem, as secretary to Mr. C.M.Mayberry. Betty and Daphne share an apartment at Mason Hall, Alex andria, Va. Daphne says, "Working for PAI is very interesting." PAI personnel stationed at DCA: Bill Clark - Station Manager, Ed Wisnieski - Chief Agent, Georgia McKee - Comm unications, Shirley Anderson, Kieth Fabrizio, Winston Hall, Bill Hamilton- Ticket Counter Agents, jona Carr, Betty Caudill, Katherine Fishel, Jeanie Lash, Daphne Wilson - Reservation Agents. WILMINGTON - I'm afraid news is a little scarce these days. Except for some rather strong breezes, (Connie, Diane and lone) these hasn't been too much excite ment. The vacation season at the local beaches ended very abruptly with the on set of the hurricanes, although it looks like the fall fishing will be as good or betterthan ever. So come on down - the big channel bass and blues are just laying out there waiting for you. Well “ look whose back in town! After touring the Eastern Seaboard, Rutled^ finally found his way back home-says he's planning to be here awhile. Anyway, we are glad to have him back. We also have some new faces in the crew room. First Officers Shipton and Kennedy seem pleased with their new location and Sugg, ex-agent INT, appears to have the situation well at hand. Scuttlebutt has it that Al Crisler's Carol Ina Helicopter Service, Inc. has moved to a new location "Corn Cake Inlet" just north of Bald Head Island. The Editor and Staff of the Piedmonitor would like to take this opportunity to express their a ppreciation for the whole hearted cooperation of the stations for sending in their news. Looking forward to your continued efforts. FIXED BASE FLASHES Much excitement around Fixed Base since Bob Nance's Ryan is flying again. As a matter of fact, this is one flying airplane and when both it and Melvin Robinson's Midget take to the air - it is a real show. Big doings down toward Myrtle Beach the latter part of Sept. The Carolina Aero Club met at Pine Lakes Country Club and from all reports a very successful meeting was held. We are happy to welcome some new em ployees here at Fixed Base. Fon Hall is the new operations clerk. Fon is from Mt. Airy originally, but she says she now con siders INT home. Dewey Smith is a new I ine serviceman and I guess he might be considered a real local boy since he is from Pfafftown, which brings a point to mind. Just how many of us really ever stop to think that we all out to give a great big hug to our Line Crew? Not only do they service all the airlines here but service, wash, polish all transient planes and numerous other odd
