CHARLESTON-
CHW was quite busy through the month of
March. .. .several days in the high 90's as
well as one day In the lOO's for passengers
boarded and of course there were the
usual ones who got away.... .no shos and
lacking a standby to jump on in his place,
but we do feel that we did well.
Enjoyed visits from Eddie Jones and Ted
Arnold from BLF it was Ted's first trip
to CHW. Certainly hope it won't be his
last. It was nice to have Nancy Mercer
from CMH to attend one of the parties
held at our local "Green Room."
Joe High has returned from a few days va
cation in INT; having worked on his instru
ment rating. We feel Joe is becoming quite
a qual ified pilot.
Speaking of talents, Frank Burns is quite
an artist. Several of you have viewed the
picture copied by Frankof an original Jack
Kelley saw in a hunting lodge in Canada.
Frank never misses the chance to make a
cartoon of happy and unhappy instances
suffered by local PAI employees.
(Editor's Note; Frank, send us some of the
cartoons for the Piedmonitor.)
We welcome Jimmy Birthisel, new Utility
Agent. Hope he likes PA! and CHW.
CHW agents are on their toes, you will
find Irwin Apple, Chief Agent, has pre
pared several quizzes on the Piedmont
traffic manual and everyone is finding out
just how much we should have learned or
read. No sir, this isn't the type of test
where one take it and shows his paper...
each agent takes the test and his test paper
is taken up. We all feel the tests are a
good idea, and even the old agents have
to read-up on the 'ole book.
Golf season is here and Jack Kelley is
swinging his way on the greens.. .going to
sell Smoot his old clubs and buy new ones.
Smoot Is abeginner. Fisher Is going to start
the game too and yours truly is another
eager beginner.
Paul Kelley has been nursing a sore shoul
der - had his arm In a sling for two days.
One too many duffle bags, Kelley says.
Fisher just returned from his vacation
said he did nothing. He had planned to
work in the snow, but it melted two days
before he took his holiday time off. We
think he has the look in his eyes to buy a
new Ford.
Ann and Irene spent a few days in CVG
this past month - Ann's holidays, Irene's
days off - think they really enjoyed it.
We're going to plan a big spring dance in
another month. Will let you know the
particulars... .hope to see you all here.
CHARLOTTE -
Our apologies for missing the last issue
but the time just slipped up on us. We
would like to introduce two of our newest
agents and they are: Don Musser and Doub
Tomlinson. Don Is brand new with the
Company but Tomlinson has seen service
before as a purser. After his hitch in the
Army, he has returned to PA!. He Is also
currently completing his college at Bel
mont Abbey this year, majoring In Business
Administration.
Your correspondent has just wound up six
days vacation doing the housework while
the "missus" spent the Easter Holidays In
New York. But, from what I hear. I'd
rather keep the little ones than be in the
Big City with a group of High School
Seniors for a week.
We welcome to Charlotte at this time -
Delta Air Lines - and a great big send off
to you, DAL. The Convair 340's really
add a lot to one of the fastest growing air
ports in the country. We take pleasure In
introducing the following Delta personnel:
Mr. Ed Porter-Dist. Traffic Mgr., Mr. W.
A.Smith, Station Manager from CHW, Mr..
Roy Hankins from AGS, Reservatiors
Mgr., Mr. Jim Graves from CAE, Senior
Ticket Counter Agent. All these folks are
really nice people and we feel most for
tunate in having them next door to us.We
can tell already it's going to be apleasure.
Delta has a total of 23 people at the airport
and 3 in the City office - a grand total of
26 - so you can see they are starting off
with a bang and our hats are off to them.
Our news Is rather short this time, but be
fore ending, would also like to introduce
the new Avis Car Rental manager here In
CLT, which is now open for business, Mr.
Wiley Neal. Wiley has been with E A L
for a number of years and is qualified to
give the best in rentals of Avis cars to yoj.
He‘H be happy to hear from you-all.
OK, NRSA's come on - heard a robin
singing - vacations must be around the
corner so we'll be seeing you.

HUNTINGTON -
Spring comes to HTW.
It is a sure signof spring when all the boys
come in sporting crew-cuts. Another sign
is the new coat of paint on the administra
tion building.
The TrI-State airport authority Is trying to
pass on a bond issue for the purpose of air
port expansion. It will be voted on in the
May election.
Agent Winston Hall from DCA visited us
recently. Agent Bob Waugh and wife, Jo
Ann from CVG,spent a weekend here and
they tell us they had a wonderful time.
Our apologies to Chief Agent Frank Sloane
for leaving him out of our last station line
up. To all his many friends and associates,
we wish to say that he Is still here - cigar
and al I.
We are starting a series of articles which
will Introduce our agents and their families
to al 1 of you .
