Recently, the owner and manager of John Thomas Transfer Company, local cartage agent for Air Freight, was presented an award from Air Cargo Incorporated for operat ing two complete years wjthout a single damage complaint. The Station Managers of the four airlines serving Charlotte, Eastern, Delta,Capital and Piedmont, honored Mr. Thomas with a luncheon in the Dogwood Room of the Airport "77". At this time, a certificate of merit was presented in recognition of the outstanding record attained by Thomas Transfer Company. ATA No-Show Penalty Proposal Given to CAB Washington, D.C. - A proposal which will make more seats available to the public by charging travelers who fail to show up for the flights on which they have reserved seats was presented to the Civil Aeronautics Board by Robert L. Turner, Vice President-Traffic, of the Air Transport Association. The proposal calls for a $3.00 penalty against anyone who is a "no show". "In addition to the penalty, "Mr. Turner said, "the scheduled airlines propose to intro duce a reconfirmation rule as part of the industry's efforts to eliminate the no-show pro blem which has resulted in airliners departing with empty seats while other people who wanted those seats were unable to buy them. " The plan is subject to approval of the CAB. When the Board approves, the reconfir- mation requirement will go into effect July 14, 1957, and the penalty plan will be come effective September 15, 1957. A third part of the industry's'efforts toelimlnate the no-show problem is continuation of - 2 - "Cisco Kid" Arrives In Bluefield Duncan ^enaldo, who portrays the "Cisco Kid" in the movies and on TV arrived in Bluefield, West Virginia, for a personal appearance, via Piedmont Airlines Flight 34 on May 30. Although the arrival was siightly delayed, the crowd which had gathered early,overflowed the ramp in an effort to greet the idol of millions of young sters (both young and old) to obtain his autograph. the ticketing time limitplan,which requires a passenger to pick up his ticket by the time set by the airline.
