CHARLESTON . . . . . . Ruth Miller vVe have experienced two big changes dur ing the month. IrwinApple, Chief Agent, was promoted to Staff Assistant in the home office. A coffee hour was held for Irwin and we presented him with a gift. I can assure you he'll be missed in Charleston. To receive such a promotion you know he was smart, and he certainly gave freely of his time to teach us agents the "whys and wherefores" to being a good agent. Best of luck to a nice fellow. Charleston's loss is the System's gain. Paul Kelley is the new Chief Agent. Better known to al I as P. K, Pau I has been with PA I in Charleston for over five years and is certainly well acquainted with the various duties to complete station operations. Ann Isaacs has transferred back to Charles ton, having worked the past few months in Washington and Charlotte. The Smoots are on vacation, planning trips to visit Ed's folks in Virginia and enjoying the comforts of Myrtle Beach. John Comer has been spending his vacation at home relaxing and playing with his sons. Wife,Helen, has been ill butisfeel- ing better. The basketball players - Cash, Smoot, Comer and Settle will probably switch to baseball now that the season is here. Picnic time is here and several roasts have been enjoyed. Coonskin Park has been crowded. One picnic in Kanawha State Forest was moved to Coonskin. They close the park early in the forest, eh, P, K. ? Charleston's annual Picnic will probably be held in July. Charleston has no Beach but the Welcome Mat is always out when you step through our door . CHARLOTTE . . . . . . Al Shulley June in Charlotte has brought more than hot weather, along with a few thunderstorms We went over, the top on June 3 to bring our Station score to 105passengers boarded and turned 6 away. These 6 were rerouted via Raleigh to catch flight 8 to Fayettevil le and Wilmington so you can see by now the Sales Training Course recently completed is really paying off. We inCharlotte fully believe that this has been one of the most complete "Selling" courses we have ever been privileged to have a part in. New Agent at this station is Bobby Harrel- son, married and has one young daughter, three months old. Mrs. Harrelson is a Floridian converted to a Tarheel. We give them a hearty welcome to the Piedmont group here. Bobby replaces agent Walter TomI inson, who resigned to become associa ted with the Carol i n a Motor Club in Charlotte. We are all happy to have Nan "Texas" Dabbs back at the desk. Guess she'll be lookin' toward Houston soon.We miss Ann Isaacs, doggone it,she stayed long enough for us to get to know what to expect next and up and pulled out for Charleston - best of luck, Ann! Billy Sanders is pulling a June wedding here soon and our congratulations are ex tended to him and Joanne. Speaking of weddings, one of our former agents, Earl Moore is getting married in Winston on the 16th. Reason we know,Johnnie Newell is doing the nuptial music for him. Don't know why Johnnie does these things, when he admits that weddings remind him much of funerals, and he sings much easier for the latter Charlotte would like to recognize their refueling service personnel. Tom Burke , owner of the Charlotte Flying Service, handles all of our refueling, assisted by C. W. Smith and Walt Thomas. All of these fel lows are doing a swell job, and do their utmost to help get the flights out on time - they do love to put on gas though. So, Notice to All Pilots: A friendly and very cooperative service awaits you i n Charlotte from the Charlotte Flying Service, been for several months now. By July 1 we hope to have all the details completed whereby all Louisville personnel can make the transition from old to new in a matter of a few minutes. New facilities will include offices for operations, crews, and last but not least, Mr. Parrish will have his own private office(in which he can "house" his trophy recently won in the inter-city bowl ing league). Mr. Parrish incidentally, will head the local bowl ing league for the com ing year by reason of the recent electionof officers. Reservations will be handled in a remodeled portion of the west wing of the main building, with an entirely new baggage claim area next door. Our apologies for not mentioning the new office, which has been occupied for several weeks by District Sales Representative, Joseph Wathen, 15th Floor of the Starks Building. Next to moving day, vacations are top priority, news wise. Horace Greely's timely proverb seems to be the personal motto of Louisvil le personnel. Bobby Boy Gilbert and wife, Howard Hughes and Mrs. Pruiett and family will soon be departing for the Golden State of California. We have no other advance notices as to travel plans. We almost overlooked the station manager's recent pilgrimage to a reunion of all the old "Grads"of GoldsboroClass of '44. From the report given,a fine time was had by al I. On the basis of inquiries, the PAI package tours for Asheville and Virginia Beach should prove quite profitable to the Pace maker Family. And, well it should under the supervision, locally speaking,of David P. Smith, III. We would I ike to welcome back James Rainey who has just returned from an ex tended tour of the Gulf Coast. We sincerely hope that all stations will en joy the business that we have since the coming of warm weather.- oh,for the F-27s. LOUISVILLE . . . Construction work on the addition to the Lee Terminal is the order of the day as it has LYNCHBURG . . . . . . Martha Brown We boarded approximately 1450 passengers this month, for an all time high record - could have done better had we not been plagued with several days of bad weather. We expect to do better next month. (Cont'd. on Page 4 ) - 3 -
