NORFOLK . .. (Continued from Poge 3) dance on August 16. The same being a Bermuda Hop and believe me you Fi a v e never seen such a conglomeration of legs in your life. A good time v/as had by all except for a few headaches the next day. In the last issue of the Piedmonitor v/e told you about the airplane being built by Joe Mathias in his backyard. The picture shows something else that was built in a baclcyard. Captain Marvin Stokeley spent nine hard months of work on buildinghis 24 foot oux sail boat and, not count i ng labor, cost him about $1500. Marvin has emphasized that he did not build it from a boat kit. He reports that his craft handles very well in a good ocean breeze. RALEIGH-DURHAM . . . . . . J. p. Wheeler All of us at RDU are indebted to Wallace Kerr for the swell weiner roast he had last month. The beautiful setting for the affair was at the Durham Police Range on the bank of Lake Michie. Wallace made all the arrangements and wound up as chief cook and bottle-washer, attired in a pair of pale blue Bermuda shorts. Among our special guests for the night were two former RDU Agents, Bob Turbiville from INT and Vern Crisp from IMN. They added a lot to the party and we were glad to have them. Other guests included Omar Dobson and wife, Jim Barbour and wife, Charlie Spence and wife,Milton Brogden and wife, and Jane McFarland. Omar, a former airport manager here, is now the air-taxi operator at RDU. Jim is the Capital station manager and Charlie, Milton and Jane are Capitol agents. For special enter tainment, Milton Brogden and his guitar proved to be very popular. We all had a big time, but our party fund is now depleted. We would like to extend an invitation to al I crew members and NRSA who are passing through here to help us re- plentish the kitty by stopping by our Oper ations Office and having a coke and pack of crackers with us. She is quite a girl and we Durhomites think she will go a long way in the Miss America contest. Speaking of beauties, we had the opportunity to be of service to Miss Becky Lee who was recently crowned Miss Virginia. Her home is in Dunn, N.C.andshe needed a special evening gown for a parade on Tuesday morn ing in Roanoke. We sent it air freight to Roanoke on 97. Everything worked out fine and they were very grateful . Congratulations to IMN for boarding 1000 in June. Looks like all they needed to get on the ball down there was for RDU to send them a good agent. Nice going, Verne. Congratulations to another former RDU agent, Larry Wall at EWNwhorecently became the father of a baby girl . All of us at RDU are glad to know that Mother and Daughter are doing fine.
