BLUEFIELD . . . .. . Eddie Jones (I. tor.) Ted Arnold, Ted Farrington, Eddie Jones (standing) Marvin Dil Ion, Adron Woodruff and Johnny Lawrence. WE MADE IT! WE MADE IT! At last, we hit the 1,000 marl at this station when we boarded 1,018 passengers in August. We sure enjoyed the steaks and the party at Club LaSaluta in honor of this event. Our out-of-town guests for the occasion were: R. E. Turbiville, K. E. Ross, Johnny Lewis,Mr. & Mrs. G. I. Wagner, Bob Miller, Ed Best, Mr. & Mrs. John Comer,Mrs. Iris Fields and Jimmy Minnix. However, we feel they shouldn't wait on our 2,000 Party to stop in on our parties as we wish to see them more often. Adron Woodruff is winding up vacations here, think he is doing lots of sightseeing in the Chevy this time with tentative plans to MIA by air for the last half but we'll have to wait until he returns to hear the "and a good time was had by all . " We've got plenty of construction work going on at the field now as they are com pleting our taxi strip which is going to help our operations quite a bit. Work should begin soon on the new terminal building which will consist of a two story building with an all glass front. We hill billies won't know how to act in one of them thar modern things! CHARLESTON ... .... Kuril Miller CHW welcomes the arrival of another new agent,Carl Lipscomb . Carl replaces Clyde Lentz who returned to North Carolina to go to school . Our apologies to Jim (spelled correctly this time) McNiell for the incorrect spell ing of his name when introducing him as a new agent in CHW. Charleston has some very intell igent agents. I'm sure you'll all agree. A special rea son for many of our fellows being smart is that they attend college part time during the winter months. This fall season finds Jim Settle enrolled in West Virginia Tech, Montgomery, W. Va. Ed Smoot is finish ing his course at Morris Harvey College in CHW and Orville Larch is also enrolled in Morris Harvey. Ronnie Abshire and Bill Scott are enrolled at West Virginia State College at Institute,W.Va. All are very ambitious and we salute them in the hopes that their goals are reached in their field of study. The following theme was written by Ronnie Abshire for his English Class: "My Little Son" "Though only two feet tall and weighing only twenty six pounds, I see in my little son many wondrous things. I see all the powers God has given man. I see the wis dom to guide people, the love of beauty, the love of nature and love of Thy fellow- man. In his eyes, I see the courage that has made ourgreat nation what it is today. There also is answered the question of what it may be many years from now. Looking into his face, I see his Mother, whom I dearly love. I see a resemblance of his grandparents. And with great pride, I also see a great resemblance of his father. Surely, God has given man many wondrous things. But of all marl's assets. I'm sure nothing Is more deorl y loved end as precious as his son. " We wish to congratulate Ed Smoot on his promotion to Lead Agent. Ed has been with PAI for over five years, and has many achievements to his credit. Irene Kiser postponed her vacation out MSY way. You can bet she'll be on her way when possible. Enjoyed visiting with Preston Welbourne, Mr. Tom Cowen and Ken Ross this month. Frank Burns is on aflying vacation. Frank - 4 - and another pilot enthusiast are flying to Florida, Texas and Mexico. Frank will do most of the flying, being the capable pilot he is. It's always pleasant to visit with Jack Kelley, Joe High, and Bob Selbe when they come home on a visit with their families. Evelyn Fitzhugh from RIC stops by to see us whenever she comes into town. CHARLOTTE... Al Shulley Sometimes Mother Nature Is not with us. The other morning AVL was closed, so we boardedNo AVL. Everything^ else was open. Guess what? The flight got into AVL and overflew TRI - red faces in CLT. Well, we again broke our own record for September. Looks I Ike CLT is going to hove a record Piedmont Boarding Year. There Is just nothing like those "Piedmont Flew" shots we are using here and of course pre scribing booster shots for all passengers. We had several INT visitors - Messrs.Ross, Cartwright, Lewis and others; always g|ad to have them. Wei I, the $3.00 No-show penalty is now in use and sure is making adlfference In the attitude of the traveling public. They are a little more cooperative. My daughter,Bonnie, was recently installed as an officer In the Rainbow Girls. With winter coming on, Pete Jones and Johnnie Newell ore reviewing us on ATC procedures. We at CLT had a bang-up wiener roast at Johnnie Newell's. Sure is nice to play to gether after working together. Everytliing was just fine. HUNTINGTON ... .... A. Carter Vacations are over with Irene Blake re - turning from her two week tour throughout the west and a lengthy visit with relatives In Los Angeles.
