The new hangar is starting to take shape now and should be completed in another 5 or 6 weeks. Otner construction under way is a new VOR station located on the field. The building is completed and the crew is now installing the radio gear. After talking to the CAA men doing the job, we find that the VOR should be in operation in'a few months. We would like to extend congratulations to our neighbor, Bluefield, on boarding 1,018 passengers in August. Congratulations are in order for Agent Jack Guy in Obtaining his weather certificate. A record breaking total of 2,003 passengers boarded In CLT for the month of October, an increase of 449 over the same month last year. Highlight of the trip was the tour of the Fairchild Air craft plant in Hagerstown, Md. We saw the F-27 from the first rivet to thefinished mock-up. It surpassed anything that I had expected and it certainly made me proud to say, "I'm with Piedmont Airlines." If you can, go see the F-27. It's more than just another airplane to the people at Fairchild as evidenced by their enthusiasm.
