BECKLEY . . . . . . Bob Wilson Our station manager C. F. Field recently obtained his weather certificate. Piedmont Airlines is now getting s o m e additional advertising over Radio Station WJLS. The station calls for the iocal y/eather conditions at the field and then reports it through the courtesy of Piedmont. Merry Christmas'to all. CHARLESTON . . . . , . Ruth Miller As usual CHW has been busy beginning the Holiday Season. Visited with Turby on a short visit here and it was also nice to talk with W. A. Blackmon and Preston Lincoln between trips. We felt quite honored by the visits of Messrs. Tom Cowan and Ed Best. The usual custom between CHW and HTW- work each others stations on the night each holds his station Christmas party, will hold true this year too. It*s loads of fun doing it--hopIng to catch yourself on the TT be fore signing CHW to a booking from HTW. And of course not to forget calling Flight 37 departing for HTW and CVG. Oh , well ,we have many funnyquips to remember, those of us who have traded. Then after the station closes we go to the party - it’s truly a sleepy bunch to open up their own station the next day. A new face at CHW airport is in EAL Communications. Eleanor Lemley Hager, formerly of PAl INT-C, now married to Mike Hager (CHW CAA employee) is Eastern's newest radio operator. Their other gal (I'm sure you al I know Ebanor Crist) are both named Eleanor - so when a crew says Good Morning, Evening or Night, "Eleanor" on the radio, he’s not kidding. We hope to have pictures from our Christ mas dinner dance, Dec. 21st for our next issue of the Piedmonitor. Also new at Kanawha Airport is the appear ance of Greyhound Rent-A-Car Service . Their counter is just across from our ticket counter. They took down the public pay telephones on the wall, and thus the new car rental service is in business. (More pocket change for the airl ine agents on days off to drive cars back to CHW). The Holiday Season is here Ole' Santa’s visit is near Agents with pencil in hand and phone sets in place To get passengers home - PAl sets the pace Hoping the good weather will last Ole' man weather, please wait till they're home before the wintery blast. The skys all a-glow and hearts are light and gay Waiting to see Christmas trees in colors array. The Pacemakers engines roaring a good Christmas beat The Pilot's steady hands knowing the sche dule they'll meet. And back In the hangars the mechanical crew knows If all goes well, they'll be home Inbed be fore the ole’ rooster crows. The executives work - PAl service they sold Full passenger lists, own successful story is told The dispatchers keeping each flight on Its way Not to forget SC "WHO" gets the seats - they have they say. The work of these crews being very well done The station agents work has really begun. With shoes cll polished and uniforms bright They work on and on thru the glorious night. And down the line I somehow know There’s the Station of CHW - I’ve seen it grow. This coming April I'll begin my sixth year To everyone I really feel quite near. The agents 1 work with can’t be beat. They're hard working - agreeable - their appearance Is neat. There’s Bill Cash, our Station Manager as well as friend Ed Smoot to help you at all times, his back he wll I bend Not to forget Paul Kelley ready to follow the trend. John Comer has a smart and witty mind Ronnie Abshire to one and all is kind. Irene and Ann work the ticket counter with me Frank Burns with clever cartoons to fill our hearts with glee. There's Bill Hanson, a new father of a sweet baby girl And don’t forget Math Student Settle, his - 3 - mind In a whirl. JlmBIrthlsel & Jo spending their first Christ mas as man and wi fe Bill Scott driving his ’58 Rambler -newlight of his I ife . Jim McCormick, a father to be Says, "Please make It a boy for me." And Jim McNeill whose last name I never can spell Orville Larch, a new agent, whom we all I ike so wel 1. And last but no means least,Carl Lipscomb with a shy little way Newest agent in CHW, we hope he will stay. May the New Year have a lot in store As the old year goes out with a roar . I've grown to like all these people, you see Together we’ve studied, we’ve worked, we've played so merrily. So thank you for letting me render this poem - not so great God Bless you all, not only on Christmas and New Years, but on every date. CHARLOTTE . . . . . . Al Shulley Mr. P. P.
