CHARLOTTE (Cont’d. from Page ) COLUMBUS a week. J. D, West ceiving his basic training at Lakeland, Fla. served with various divisions in the Euro pean and Aleutian theatres. After this time in the service,J.D. joined Piedmont Airlines, being stationed at various stat ions on the system before coming to CLT in 1953. He is single and says that his hobbies are the usual for an airline bachelor. Eugene Walch Eugene Waich was born in Whitewater Township, Minnesota in 1926. He served in the Marine Corps from 1945 to 1949 and then attended Gale Institute to receive his railroad training before joining the B & O in Clarion, Pa. as an agent. He then re- turned to the Marines and finally joined Piedmont in 1951. This was followed by assignments to several other stations be fore returning to Charlotte as a Lead Agent in 1956. He and his wife, Rhoda, are the proud parents of six children, one girl and five boys, ranging in age from seven to one and one half years. Construction on the new terminal building at Port Columbus is moving at a rapid pace. Around September 1 we hope to be work ing in its friendly confines. We certainly enjoyed having Tom Cowen drop by for a visit, eventhough it was cut short when he and Ed decided to go to CVG for the week end. Ed is beaming nowadays, carrying a 154 average in the bowl ing league competition. Not bad for his fourth year! Seems that since Shirley has set the big date, that her paycheck is being spent mostly for pots and pans. Best of luck! Vacation time will soon be rolling around and Nancy and Lee are talking about it already, but are not sure just where they will go. Paul has been traveling quite a bit and we are all hoping to see some good results in revenue. We all want to thank Jim Messick for the fine job he did fixing our radio. It’s just I ike new. LYNCHBURG Clark Harvey On Saturday night, Jan. 4, all us folks found time to really let our hair down. The Christmas party that was staged for us was a wonderful success. PAI employees and guests had Chicken-ln the-rough at Lock- Haven-Lodge at Timberlake. January and the New Year brought new and welcomed service to our station. Even the Yankees are smll ing on the South again .The 40 series are proving to be just the thing we needed. We were very glad to have Mr. Turblville visit LYH and to spend the night here also. Visitors are all welcome here and we wish more would come to see us. Come and see our conditions here now because next month they plan to start on our new terminal build ing and we do need one. H. A. Robinson and wife, Joan, spent a week in Miami in January so you see who in LYH is in the chips. Clyde Vaughan says he is going down this week but not for - 3 - We are gladtosay that our new agents are all settled and happy with their work. They even come out on their days off. We had such a good time at our party in January that we have plans for another one the 8th of February. Guess Martha Brown visited almost everyone on the system Sunday because she was al most dead on Monday - flew all day long. Can you beat it - she has similar plans for the following three week ends, only this time she plans to rest just a little between flights! At least 45 minutes. ROANOKE J. Faucette New personnel added to the ROA station are B. G. McLeod who has returned after a four year tour with Uncle Sam. Bob com pleted his five years with PAI on Jan. 1 . Don Sutphin returned to Roanoke after an abbreviated tour with Uncle Sam also. He was one of the fortunate ones who got to complete his military obligation under the six months plan. Sandra Johns came with us from Delta Air- I ines in Miami. Mary Weaver joined us after working with AAL in Roanoke. Departures; Nudge McNeill and Clyde Lentz left us to continue their work in CHWafter getting initiated to the airlines operation in ROA. Madeline Milan bade the airline business farewell to become a housekeeper as did Margie VanPelt. Marge also gave the airlines a prospective future reservation agent In the addition of a baby girl. Helen Holland left us to bask on the sunny shores of California In some of that liquid sunshine that California seems to be noted for. Wedding bells will sound Feb. 8 for Don Vance and Marie Garner. Best of luck to them both. Vance has been with PAI/ROA for about two years and his bride-to-be is from Hampton, Virginia. Piedmont Fixed Base became a welcomed (Cont'd. on Page 4)
