Preston Wilbourne
Preston joined Piedmont Airlines in May
1950 and has been stationed in Roanoke,
Bluefield, Norfolk and Lynchburg before
being transferred to Winston-Salem in May
1957 as Manager of Space Control.
Preston's wife, Kitty, is also a Piedmont
employee and works in the Inventory Con
trol section. They have three small chil
dren, Johnny, Kathy and Preston, Jr.
Since Preston’s job involves a great bit of
travel, he lists his main hobby as enjoying
his family while he is at home.
CAB ToTtART hearings
ON LOCAL AIR SERVICE
The Civil Aeronautics Board will begin
hearings May 4 in the Piedmont Area local
service case which includes an appl ication
by Piedmont Airlines for extended north
and south service.
The opening dote of the hearings was
announced recently in a CAB order con
solidating all applications and f i x i n g
boundaries for the investigation.
The Piedmont request asks for CAB auth
ority to serve an additional 21 cities in
cluding Baltimore, Atlanta, Augusta,
Florence, S. C., Rocky Mount, Jackson
ville, Elizabeth City, Goldsboro and
Staunton, Va. It would add more than
5,000 miles to the airline system.

Laverne Rehder
Laverne Rehder joined Piedmont Airl ines in
September 1956 and was an agent in Knox
ville, Tennessee before her transfer to
Winston-Salem In March of 1957.
Her work in aviation goes back to h e r
assistance in organizing and operating
Carolina Skyways, a flying service inWII-
mington, N. C. Some of the pilots flying
the line today learned to fly there. She
was also the first lady In eastern North
Carolina to solo and earn her private 1 icense.
Laverne has two sons. Chuck 9 and Johnny 1 5.
FAYE EMERSON FLYS
PIEDMONT ON TOUR
Faye Emerson,stage,screen and television
star currently appearing in the stage pro
duction "Back to Methuselah'* with Tyrone
Power and Arthur Treacher, recently made
her southern tour, using the services of
Piedmont Airl ines.
She departed Washington, D.C. on Flight
85 for Tri-Cities and departed there on
Flight 4 the followingday for her engage
ment at the Women's College in Greens
boro. Most of the appearances are one
night stands and all told,the companywill
play 43 cities in ten weeks.

Clint Craver
After his discharge from the Navy, Clint
Craver attended an airline school in Kan
sas City. He joined Piedmont as a station
agent In New Bern in Januaiy 1951 and came
to Space Control in April of 1952.
Clint and his wife, Kat, have two chi idren,
Mark and Teresa.
Besides his love for airl ine work, .Clint
likes farming, fishing and hunting.
