ASHEVILLE Gene Shore (l.tor.) Charles Donahoo , JimFields Barbara Bryson, Gene Shore Despite all the freezing and snowyweather we*ve had, believe it or not,we went over our passenger quota last month. My, it was a job trying to keep our passengers happy the last two weeks of February. VVe had no heat in the building for two weeks, no water, no coffee, plus zero temperatures. All this trouble was due to frozen pipes, and could not be repaired until warmer temperatures. After taking pills and shots from being half frozen, we stayed away from the flu bug. Many thanks to INT-D for letting us close after Flight 55 each of the days, since we had no heat. We were sorry to say bye-bye to Barbara Bryson, our reservations agent, last month. Barbara transferred to SDF, hoping to seek some sunshine. When she arrived in SDF the weather was colder than in AVL. A small party was given her at Charles Don- ahoo*s house. With all the fine steaks and drinks, everyone had a fine time in wish ing Barbara a farewel I. Since winter has been in full swing - its been no trouble to find a party. While snowbound, several parties have been float ing around Gene Shore and Charles Dona- hoo's homes. Since both agents are single, parties have been ending in the wee hours. It was a pleasure to have Marvin DilIon (former AVL agent) now in BLF^ visit us last month. Since Barbara Bryson left us - this only leaves us with two agents and our faithful manager, Jim Fields. Jim hasn’t had much free time at nights with us on our card games since he has been having to sit up nights with his pet Boxer, who is expecting. BECKLEY Bob Wilson Messrs. Davis and Brown visited BKW on March 12, for a short stay. This visit also enabled Mr. Davis to present Bob Wilson his five year pin. M. Everhart also visited BKW to give radio and "H" Marker the six month check. The Beckley VOR is still on a test basis and the FYI is 109.8 . BLUEF IE LD Eddie Jones Snowman (or is it vice versa?) We*ll lay our snow shovel down and pause a moment, despite old man winter's per sistant actions. Gotta say he sure gave us our share of snow and if we don’t get a break soon, it looks as if we will have to make some arrangements to have a little sunshine piped in. Eddie Jones is pictured above with the most faithful passenger for February, however,he just "melted" over the speedy snow-removal program carried on in order to get his flight in. With an eye for the future sunshine and in preparation for what we hope to be our record summer insofar as passenger board ings,we welcome to our employment agent Kenny Moses who started a couple of weeks ago and began his training with a snow shovel. Kenny is a local boy and understands the weatherproblems of Nature’s Air Con ditioned City. Anybody in the market for a beautiful car? Marvin Dillon and Johnny Lawrence have just the vehicle you need(ifyou are in the junk business). They returned a Hertz car to AVL a few days ago with intentions of flying back but since weather conditions prevented doing so, they purchased a *4] Ford from one of the PAI agents in AVL just for away home-and made it just ahead of the explosion-that is 10 degrees below zero weather and no anti-freeze in the radiator 1 Due to the remarkable mechanical ability of the two and the use of band aids and adhesive tape, the radiator is con sidered repaired (?) and is for sale again, slightly below cost. Agent Adron Woodruff is still in George Washington University Hospital in DCA and making lots of progress. Woody now has his braces and is doing fine in his re habilitation. We have visited with him a couple of times lately and he sure enjoys company as well as all the nice letters and get-well cards everyone is sending. Any time you’re up that way, make it a point to stop in to see him. CHARLESTON Ruth Miller You might sayCHWhas suffered several in juries on the "local team" through the month. Of course you know how much snow we plowed through. Jim Birthisel went sledding while out at his home in Jackson County and not too familiar with the snow, slush and ice, in the way of "breaking action" for sleds, he ran into a tree and Iproke three toes. He was in the hospital a few days, but is back in reservations - cast and all . The Cash family, Edith and Bill ,are basket- ball stars on the PTA teams, Highlawn, in St. Albans. Bill's team played the other night and Bill is sporting an Azure- blue eye and band-aid to match for the cut over the eye. Better known as " dead- eye^" Cash was injuried, but talked the coach into leaving him in the game to share his team's victory. Ed Smoot had a sore foot for days and wore a pair of soft soled shoes to lessen pressure. (Cont'd. on Page 3)
