CHARLESTON . . . Ruth Miller CHW was honored by the visit this month of PAI Sal esmen during a sales meeting and "Blitz" of our City. Although the weather was damp, cold and miserable and departures to return to their respective stations were delayed, spirits were not lowered, and we are sureweMi feei the improvement of re venue from their business calls. We ap preciate CHW being the meeting place and extend a cordial welcome at all times. Mr. W. G. McGee directed the meeting held at the Daniel Boone Hotel . April marks five years with PAI for two of us in CHW. JohnComer went to work five years ago April 20, and Ruth Miller was with the Company five years on April 25. John has worked in RIC and BLF, having transferred to CHW a year and a halfago. Since Capital Airl ines received the favor able decision on the Charleston/Miami run, weVe sure PAI will be boarding all sorts of connections for the proposed fast flight service , They are featuring additional daily service to MGW, HLG, CKB and PIT, effective on the April 27schedule change. Bill Scott is the owner of a new Taylor Craft Airplane and a proud student of Frank Burns. Time for vacc* ions and beach trips, and best of al I, time draws closer for the arri val of the F-27. CHARLOTTE .,. n Nan Dabbs One of the most popular agents in our midst is one Nan Dabbs . Nan joined Piedmont in 1952 and through the years has served her Company, customers and other airlines in a manner which gained her the title of "Agent-Of-The-Year 1956" and a coveted trip to Bermuda. Nan is a native of High Point, N.C. and attended schools in Charlotte where she majored in Art. She has a son, John Dabbs, III. The month of March threw us a weather curve so,although ourboardings were good, they did not quite come up toourhigh ex pectations. We are starting April off with a bang - better things ahead! Queen For A Day, along with several queens, passed through our station this month. They were going to Wilmington’s Azalea Festival. On the news that night Agents Penny Combs and Madge Lanier hogged the camera on TV and, although the queens were not too visible, our local queens starred right well . Winston-Salem visitors this month included Messrs. Ross, Turbiville, McGee, Gordon Brown, Lewis, Nicholson and Moser. Al ways happy to receive visitors from INT. Of course Mr. Peter Jon es. our Station Manager and Supervisor, visited us regular ly - just checking! FAYETTEVILLE . . . . . . C. R. Blackmon, Jr. Recently we were favored by a visit from Messrs. Davis, Turbiville, Brown, Me Gee and Blackmon. It was very nice to say hello to all the Top Brass but please don't stay away as long before your next visit. The crowd waited nervously for the arrival of Flight 27/30 to pull up to the ramp, a real I ive movie star, Esther Williams, was on board . The local paper got a very nice shot of Esther standing in the door of the aircraft and the usual crowd of Sunday sightseers received a special treat. Vacation time again - Bob Bennington and family just recently returned from a motor trip to RIC. LOUISVILLE . . . . . . Mac Moore SDF welcomes Don Carlyle. Don has pre viously worked for Eastern Airl ines here - 2 - and for Eastern in Columbus. He wil I replace Barbara Bryson who just recently transferred here from AVL. We like Barbara alright, but don't know why she doesn't like us. We have the word that Delta will be stop ping here on their way to Miami from Chi cago though I don't know where they will park. We don't seem to have enough room as it is, but I'm sure we'I I manage for what seems tobe a fine group of people. Eastern Airlines is the only carrier from here to Chicago at present. The University of Kentucky walked away with the NCAA again. Too bad North Carolina didn't get to the finals, they would have made a good runner-up to Ky. Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped in the search for our payroll last month. Our thanks also to the Red Cross for feeding us during the search! LYNCHBURG . . . . . . Clark H arvey Boy! has this been a busy week. We have had a most welcome change in the scenery Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These three days we carried most of the college girls home for Easter holidays. Guess most other stations had their bit of good lookers too. It is surprising what improvements they make around this old building. As you know, it is still raining here and, honestly, we have six sea gulls out on the runway right now so you know the weather is bad. We were very glad to have Mr. Davisvisit awhile on his recent tripto Lynchburg, wish he could have stayed longer. Congratulations to Mr. Best for 10 years service and to Jack El I iott and Henry Minnick for 5 years, Mr. Davis presented them with their service pins. 1958 vacations have started. We welcome Dean Martin back from holidays and Clark Harvey starts his April 1st, Jack Elliott is planning atrip toMiami around the 10th. It Is nice tosee Mr.Best around the office again-he has been "fluing"for a few days, LYH is still looking for lower minimums, new terminal and F-27s.
